Maybe they just kinda nod along and never listen to lyrics?

Yes. A surprising majority of "fans" of music don't actually listen to anything but the chorus, and even that's negotiable it seems. And if they do pay attention to any other parts, they intentionally misconstrue the lyrics to actually be completely different.

This is part of the reason I love Monster of the Week. Unlike in many TTRPGs, the default expectation is that you all have a common backstory.

I am absolutely arguing that. The rich in actual mid-to-south New York and elsewhere aren't actually taxed, why would the rich in Gotham be?

on No doubt · c/politicalmemes · 4 pts · 303d

Key word, Should. If taxes actually went where people say it does, it might. And even then, it'd also take a lot of funding outside of just taxes, not to mention someone to actually start doing stuff about with all that funding. Also note on that list is rampant corruption and criminal syndicates mingling with the government.

I just think whether or not each and every player here has an outrageously high stat and what those stats are is a bit of an unnecessary hassle to add to the already long list of things the GM needs to keep track of.

on *Permanently Deleted* · c/rpgmemes · 5 pts · 1y

The problem with this argument is that first off, the GM can't know your character sheet front-to-back because they're not playing your character, so they probably don't know if even a 1 will pass the DC they've set.

1/20 is much less regular than 5/20 or even 19/20

It's still far more common than is reasonable.

"Even" Animals don't deserve it? Why is "even" in that sentence? Are you assuming we would be more willing to hurt animals than we would be to defend ourselves from fascists?

Tolerance of intolerance is the death of tolerance.

That implies animals are lesser than fascists.

I just ctrl F'd "Undead Unluck" and didn't find it so there's that one. In fact, it even makes sure to establish the importance of healthy relationships! AND that beauty isn't always in youth!

This is a common misconception from their depictions in the movies showing the characters treating them like hammers, both in terms of how they swing them and sometimes in terms of how they hit enemies with the blade never cutting anything.

I have to agree with bleistift2 that you chose a bad example here, at least in regards to the United States and other rampantly car-dependent places. Obviously the wording is ableist, but someone complaining about a real issue such as car-dependency or just generally high-class laziness might not think of that at the time. A better example I think would be

People's aversion to talking to others is stunningly ridiculous and shouldn't be enabled.

Not only is this more obviously ignorant of disability, but it also doesn't pose the question of if they're arguing against something no-one should be complaining about vs real-world issues caused by corruption and late-stage capitalism. c/fuckcars

When you go into a public space and see a guy you've never seen or heard of before in your life and then later get arrested for associating with a sexual predator because you looked at that guy even though nothing about him even hinted at anything to do with crime of any sort.
