Second, the Kazon don’t have transporters themselves so would rely on Voyager to beam over the distinguished ambassador. Otherwise, yeah you probably should check these things out. I think there was an episode where someone removed weapons from people they were transporting aboard?

You’re right for low-power devices up to 5V/2.4A, to a point. All those USB-A to C chargers/cables didn’t stop working; they should be replaced through normal attrition to the new standard rather than replaced wholesale. I know I still have a bunch I’m using and will continue to until they’re kaput.
But PD capability via USB-C is a game changer. I’ve been in day-long meetings with people who just swapped one charger between at least three different brands of laptops/tablets. Now you don’t need think anymore about which I adapter you have, you just plug it in and it charges.
Yeah, this was a huge convenience thing as a chemist. It’s not as useful in day to day life as caps on drinks etc tend to be too tight, but I still like to use it when the opportunity arises.

If you beam from the transporter pad, you have all the scanners and equipment right there to ensure the process is as safe as possible, performed at short range, while point-to-point means you’re doing the riskiest long-range part twice. Intuitively it should take more energy to carry out the remote part of the process, and we’ve seen that there are plenty of ways to interfere with it (though sometimes being on the pad doesn’t help either).
