The issue isn’t due to moisture or corrosion. I had to insert it a few times to get the 3D icon to show up, but after it did, the game hit an unknown instruction due to corruption inside the cartridge memory.
The sidebox key likely doesn’t open the actual cash box. It most likely just opens the ATM’s front compartment (what’s behind the screen) so a technician can diagnose what’s happening inside or to (most likely) un-jam the belt.
To get into the cash box you need a separate key after opening it. That’s right, the cash inserter deposits the cash directly into a safe.

Many Gen Z grew up with Wii's and Xbox's which used physical media. I was never allowed to own an Xbox, but I did have a Wii. I think a lot of us have memories of putting in game CDs. The cutoff for that might be Gen Alpha.
