Honestly the times where your internet is out but not your neighbors is a rare event.

Fuck, just realized with constant power outages in Los Angeles and having a UPS I’m the neighbor that’s online much longer than everyone else (until the cable goes down, but sometimes I use my 5G travel router as backup).

Luckily I don’t willingly install typical spyware apps on my devices, but I have turned off all my DNS filtering for my wife and guests (I use VPNs on end decides).

At first I thought “how is this relevant?” but increasingly yeah, us web developers to use HTTP 404 rather than HTTP 403 increasingly as it can be more secure to pretend something doesn’t exist than to explicitly say “you don’t have access to this right that exists.”

I’ve never especially loved the practice but I’ve done it at work for really sensitive endpoints.

Honestly, I’m very much into this if it actually gets people off their phone.

I’m so, so sick and tired of honking at people when the light turns green because they’re hunched over their phone. And what gets me the most is half the time you can see Android Auto or CarPlay on their dashboard — like bro why are you still pulling out your phone??

Honestly I don’t give a fuck if it’s real meat. As a vegan it pisses me off when these motherfuckers try to charge more for not supporting animal abuse.

Yeah man I have mad respect for IT. I’m a developer but my coworker and I also provide support for our application (it’s internal only). I’m always blown away by the stupid tickets that web developers themselves open — like bro you couldn’t bother to open the developer tools in the browser to see the network response or JavaScript exception or whatever??

But I mean why work a job that’s computer-based if you’re scared of computers? That’s the part I don’t understand: businesses just have zero requirements for office work. I think places should at least just check that candidates/employees have minimum tech literacy (what is a file?).

I’m a web developer and I’ve learned they’ll freeze at any sign of an error.

Shit, I’ll write an error message like “carrier credentials missing” and users will still come to me and I’ll say “oh it’s because the carrier credentials are missing” then they’ll go on to solve the problem.

I’ve never understood the mentality of offloading reading comprehension to others. Why do I bother to write clear error messages at all?

Scottish people aren’t white? You’re not Scottish? I was talking about the irony that you’re referring to the American in question as a “white shit head” when he’s literally descended from your culture.

But whatever bro, honestly I’m just blocking you and moving on. I just don’t have the patience to play 20 Questions with you.

I was running a bar in Scotland

it transpired that his great grandfather was Scottish

Not him.

America had culture for thousands of years, then some white shit heads did their best to kill it

Aren’t the “white shit heads” in this case from your culture though?

Look, I get it, the US sucks and we are terrible people. But it gets really tiring being shit on by the same people who sent over all the “white shit heads” in the first place.
