Only took 18 laps for a "we are checking"

Gsicht@lemmy.world · 13 pts · 2y (2 replies)

Yuki with the sass.

cozy_agent@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 2y (1 reply)

I like it, they screwed him

D2Rave@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 2y

This is Yuki showing he is still immature. He wasn't going to get that pass done and only ended up making Daniel miss his window (being on softs / having Max lap them). Yuki pulls a large market and has matured some, shenanigans like this put a real negative view on an otherwise positive race.

alphacyberranger@lemmy.world · 12 pts · 2y

Bottas and botched tyre nuts....name a better combo

Coelacanth@feddit.nu · 11 pts · 2y (3 replies)

I wish Red Bull would just unleash Max instead of just telling him to build a ~15 sec gap and then drive to a delta. If we can't have competition at the front, at least let us watch Max lap the entire field.

dimspace@lemmy.world · 10 pts · 2y (2 replies)

If Red Bull do that, then F1 will start bringing a whole raft of rule changes mid season to try an screw over Red Bull and make them slower

(I mean they tried to do that last year with the floor rulings, but Red Bull ended up getting even better)

Coelacanth@feddit.nu · 5 pts · 2y (1 reply)

Wasn't the floor rulings a late implementation of intended porpoising prevention? Or was there another floor change I forgot about?

Also funny how by the time the floor change was implemented most teams had already fixed porpoising and all it accomplished was making following harder again.

Ferrari was still struggling with it in the latter half of 2022

dimspace@lemmy.world · 11 pts · 2y (1 reply)

10 laps, 8 seconds in front and not even trying.

Can we just give Max the title, let him take the year off and have a new competition for "second is the first winner"

acidagfc@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 2y

I like Max as a person, but having another season of him racing in a league of his own is too much.

listener17@sh.itjust.works · 9 pts · 2y

Riveting stuff. Excited there's 23 more races of this. /s

lazycouchpotato@lemmy.world · 9 pts · 2y (1 reply)

Leclerc really struggling out there. Brutal.

Max's so ahead he'll reach Saudi Arabia for the next race by the end of this one.

krimson@feddit.nl · 3 pts · 2y

Max has his own calendar. Abu Dhabi in May.

june@lemmy.world · 9 pts · 2y (1 reply)

Carlos gunning for Lewis’ seat next year.

AlexisFR@jlai.lu · 3 pts · 2y

Or Perez's

TheBlue22@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 8 pts · 2y (2 replies)

THE ENGINEER SAID IT!

HE SAID THE FUNNY

cozy_agent@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 2y (1 reply)

Wait what did I miss?

TheBlue22@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 7 pts · 2y

They are checking

t0fr@lemmy.ca · 7 pts · 2y

Sainz has REALLY been performing and showing what he can do!

alphacyberranger@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 2y

Lpine

alphacyberranger@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 2y

Max with another grand slam

MaddieTian@lemmy.zip · 6 pts · 2y

Max is 15 second up the road. I was hoping for a better year with some actual racing involved.

Ah well. Guess I’ll try again in 2026 with the rule changes.

SlicingBot@lemmy.ml · 6 pts · 2y (1 reply)

Interesting to put Checo on the softs.

l_b_i@yiffit.net · 6 pts · 2y

No hards available.

dimspace@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 2y

Boy that sauber is.. green.. very green...

at least it stands out from all the blues and, well, blues

JimmyMcGill@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 2y

Seems like it will be the same as last year

alphacyberranger@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 2y

Yuki getting the Ferrari treatment

wes@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 2y (2 replies)

Lawrence Barretto's prediction on Hamilton seems to be spot on atm.

june@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2y (1 reply)

What was his prediction again?

wes@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 2y

I am not 100% sure but I thought 8th this race and Hamilton gave him a ā€œhard timeā€ about it during the drivers parade.

nerdschleife@lemm.ee · 5 pts · 2y

Why aren't we seeing pit stop times?

alphacyberranger@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 2y

Alex have you tried restarting it?

lazycouchpotato@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 2y (1 reply)

Brutal pitstop for Bottas. He's always the unlucky one.

PipedLinkBot@feddit.rocks · 3 pts · 2y

Here is an alternative Piped link(s):

unlucky one

Coelacanth@feddit.nu · 5 pts · 2y

Really looks like most people underestimated Red Bulls pace advantage, if anything.

t0fr@lemmy.ca · 4 pts · 2y (3 replies)

Yuki doesn't seem quite happy to be asked to swap

SlicingBot@lemmy.ml · 3 pts · 2y (2 replies)

I wonder how the relationship between Daniel and Yuki will play out this year?

D2Rave@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 2y

I'd expect some fireworks - my guess is neither Yuki nor Daniel is there next year (one up / one out)

t0fr@lemmy.ca · 2 pts · 2y

Honestly same. I was really expecting more from Daniel on that final stint. If the season continues similar to this, I expect a lot more frustration from Tsunoda

alphacyberranger@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 2y

This is suddenly becoming a race of reliability.

JustAManOnAToilet@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 2y

Fucking race director at the end.

AlexisFR@jlai.lu · 4 pts · 2y

Good luck!

june@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 2y

Yuki is pissed lmao

alphacyberranger@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 2y

Mom, Max is at it again

SlicingBot@lemmy.ml · 4 pts · 2y

Poor Bottas

TheBlue22@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 4 pts · 2y

Holy shit Sainz what a move

Gsicht@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 2y (1 reply)

The Ferraris... My poor heart!

alphacyberranger@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2y

Nothing new.....atleast we haven't seen any strategy fuckups yet

Gsicht@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 2y

Nice move from Carlos.

alphacyberranger@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 2y (1 reply)

Did F1 run out of contract with AWS to show us timings and stats or what? Or is AWS fucking shit up themselves as usual?

baru@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 2y

Did F1 run out of contract with AWS

They mentioned AWS, why would they do that if that wasn't about AWS sponsoring that? I did see a prediction of one car overtaking another. It was completely inaccurate.

Gsicht@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 2y

GG everybody

t0fr@lemmy.ca · 3 pts · 2y

I've never watched a pre-race show before.

Can't wait to get started!!!

TheBlue22@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 3 pts · 2y

Let's go Checo!!

alphacyberranger@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 2y

Maxito, Don't play with your food

cozy_agent@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 2y (2 replies)

Is Zak getting paid by Sky or something? They always talk to him.

SlicingBot@lemmy.ml · 3 pts · 2y

They usually have several of the TPs and team personnel give commentary each race. They rotate week to week.

I'm concerned for the Ferrari, I thought their race pace was supposed to be good.

june@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 2y (2 replies)

Can’t help but wonder if Charles is the problem today. Carlos is looking strong.

SlicingBot@lemmy.ml · 2 pts · 2y (1 reply)

You're right, something is up with Charles.

june@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2y

We’ll find out soon enough. Either there’s a problem with the car or Charles is in his head.

RagingToad@feddit.nl · 3 pts · 2y

So tirewear should be less, but doesn't help Leclerc is locking up so often.

Gsicht@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2y

When they finally showed Max just now, I thought it was because he had a problem lol

june@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2y

Checo looking good on those hard tires.

june@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2y

Will Buxton just said Checo is ā€˜Keen as mustard’ and it caught me off guard. Never heard that one before lol.

lazycouchpotato@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2y

Great drive by Sainz.

Neonridex@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 2y

Why no more action zone in the intro?

AlexisFR@jlai.lu · 1 pts · 2y

Well I do hope the others can catch up this year...

june@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 2y

Is it me, or is that RBR front wing not flexing at all?

june@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 2y

First half of the lap feels a lot like last year lol.

sloppynachos@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 2y (2 replies)

Tuned in a bit late, was there any prime Brundle cringe during the grid walk?

Nfamwap@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 2y (1 reply)

He interviewed Jeremy Clarkson, who looked rather tipsy.

cozy_agent@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2y

His voice sounded so different.

Rapidcreek@lemmy.world · -2 pts · 2y

Another yawner. Max just walked away.
