Probably translated word for word by someone who didn’t speak both languages, like English As She Is Spoke or All Your Base Are Belong To Us. I wonder what the other language was, though.

Zagorath@aussie.zone · 15 pts · 1y

Is there any language in which a definite article on its own is a perfectly valid sentence or phrase?

lunarul@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 1y (1 reply)

More likely poorly written in the original language, then passed through Google Translate or other automated translator.

HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 1y

I could have sworn this went through Google translate four or five times.

It implies we are definitely thanking someone, but not so sure if that someone is you. No, it is you, I am sure now.

Sounds like a speech by Charlie Kelly

CosmicTurtle0@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 3 pts · 1y (2 replies)

This is far too coherent to be Charlie.

nothing@lemm.ee · 3 pts · 1y (1 reply)

Oh well I'm sure he dictated it. It's not crayon drawings.

CosmicTurtle0@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 2 pts · 1y

This has community top post potential and as the current holder of the title. It strikes fear in me

spongeborgcubepants@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 1y (1 reply)

This is clearly a Sunny reference

Kolanaki@yiffit.net · 2 pts · 1y

Maybe they should stop having Charlie write the notices.

My friend is an ESL teacher. I sent this to her and said it's probably the most cruel thing she can post in her classroom
