"Oh wow I can barely walk, I guess I should put some peanut butter on some toast or something"

HexadecimalSky@lemmy.world · 20 pts · 1y (4 replies)

peanut butter toast, simple, yummy, filling! People keep thinking i'm wired when I tell them about pb toast, glad to see others talk about it.

LyD@lemmy.ca · 10 pts · 1y (2 replies)

PB + banana (or honey if I'm out) is my go-to!

AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 1y

Apparently Elvis enjoyed Peanut butter, banana, and bacon sandwiches. I personally recommend bac'n bits. Real bacon makes the sandwich too greasy

Lucidlethargy@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 1y

A thick cut of toasted bread (e.g. sour dough) with bananas, honey, and almond butter is an insanely tasty treat.

Alteon@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 1y

Who doesn't think peanut butter toast is 'normal'? Where tf are you from?

infinite_ass@leminal.space · 17 pts · 1y (4 replies)

Why turn eating into work?

A banana and a handful of nuts.

No cooking or smearing. No tools required. Just grab it and stick it in your hole.

Viking_Hippie@lemmy.world · 10 pts · 1y (2 replies)

Just grab it and stick it in your hole.

That's what.. Nah, even I have a "too easy" threshold sometimes 🤷

That's what she said.

Who has that much time? Just put honey on some peanut butter on bread. Then some milk, for protein. Full meal (not really)!

isVeryLoud@lemmy.ca · 4 pts · 1y

Just squirt the honey straight into your mouth! (or maple syrup in my case)

Fuck protein, want sugar!

And then I get a tummy ache and I'm still hungry.

IMNOTCRAZYINSTITUTION@lemmy.world · 66 pts · 1y (1 reply)

"I am enraged at everyone and everything. I want to murder the next fucker that bothers me" is my signal that it's time to start eating for the day

higgsboson@dubvee.org · 2 pts · 1y

The first thing I do when I come downstairs is drink 4oz (120ml) of juice. Next priority is to get the caffeine monkey off my back. Only then can I risk human interaction.

Gerudo@lemm.ee · 56 pts · 1y (5 replies)

Migraine alarm clock here. The ultimate painful reminder that I forget everything.

30p87@feddit.org · 15 pts · 1y (1 reply)

But now I'm in too much pain to make something! Argh, sleep will fix that.

Gerudo@lemm.ee · 6 pts · 1y

Excedrin, darkness, migraine cap and sleep. Only cure I have.

Aeri@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 1y (1 reply)

I hate it because it doesn't go away when I eat and hydrate for a long time, ough

Doxatek@mander.xyz · 4 pts · 1y

Yes! Same here

JeezNutz@lemmy.ml · 1 pts · 1y

I just figured out that's the reason I was getting migraines lol. Haven't gotten one since

xmunk@sh.itjust.works · 45 pts · 1y

This was me and my ADHD coworker... we never ate at noon - eventually (sometimes at like 430) one of us would turn to the other "You eat yet?" "Oh fuck, I forgot - let's grab something"

Lumidaub@feddit.org · 39 pts · 1y

Why is my stomach hurting? Did I eat anything that had gone bad? Oh wait.

ptz@dubvee.org · 36 pts · 1y

I just kind of graze all day.

AnarchistArtificer@slrpnk.net · 33 pts · 1y

Tips! Many ADHD medications have the side effects of appetite suppression. Because of this, it can be a useful routine to eat something when you take your meds, to reduce the likelihood of going too long without food.

This goes doubly if you also have autism and/or other problems with interoception (knowing how your body is feeling/feeling hungry)

Lucidlethargy@sh.itjust.works · 31 pts · 1y (1 reply)

I didn't know this was tied to ADHD haha. Some days I'm all about food, but others I realize it's 7 PM and all I had was a scone all day. Today was such a day.

Szyler@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y

Low interroception, not necessarily Adhd. Like most symptoms it can come from many angles.

fuck_u_spez_in_particular@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 1y

I'm actually using complete meal replacement like jimmy joy or huel. If you're not too picky with taste, it can definitely help with a healthy diet, without much effort.

I'm also surprised how much effect really nutrition has on muscle build-up, as I gained just with this comparatively high protein diet quite a bit (without focusing on that specifically)

Draegur@lemm.ee · 25 pts · 1y

got your 'time to eat' alarm set to vibrate eh

CaptainBlagbird@lemmy.world · 20 pts · 1y (11 replies)

Maybe I don't have ADHD after all 🤔

derf82@lemmy.world · 30 pts · 1y (2 replies)

ADHD is also connected with increased rates of obesity. While some forget to eat, others can’t stop eating in that never ending search for dopamine.

Crashumbc@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 1y (1 reply)

Sigh, not surprised.

superkret@feddit.org · 4 pts · 1y

Easy solution: just start smoking

janus2@lemmy.zip · 16 pts · 1y (2 replies)

i have the fat kid flavor of adhd where i eat all the time for the dopamines

TriflingToad@sh.itjust.works · 3 pts · 1y (1 reply)

what medicine are you on if you don't mind me asking?

janus2@lemmy.zip · 3 pts · 1y

currently none because my insurance says i need something called a "prior authorization" which means i have to spend hours playing phone tag with my doctor first 🫠

I am hoping that amphetamine salts will help me not be bored-hungry all the time and help with motivation to get to the gym regularly. I miss being healthy :[

TriflingToad@sh.itjust.works · 5 pts · 1y

I think it has to do with the medicine. I'm on a less common ADHD medication and I don't get like this. Unless I'm working for some reason 🤷‍♀️

Revonult@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 1y (2 replies)

I am assuming this is referring to medicated ADHD. Stimulates are often associated with decreased hunger. When I was on vyvanse I completely lost my sense of hunger and only went off my bloodsuger. Like "damn I feel dizzy and zombie like. Food time"

CaptainBlagbird@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y

Aaah suddenly this makes a lot more sense, thanks for the clarification.

I'm undiagnosed (finally should get that done... 🫣), so I have absolutely no experience with the medication.

TriflingToad@sh.itjust.works · 1 pts · 1y

I'm on Focalin and I can't relate so it probably is the medicine 👍

Monument@lemmy.sdf.org · 2 pts · 1y

Late to this party, but I binge eat when I’m off my meds.

I lost 45 lbs (~20 kilos) the first year I was on meds. Didn’t skip meals or anything - just stopped eating second whole meals after the first.

Infynis@midwest.social · 19 pts · 1y

It's handful of shredded cheese o'clock!

SharkEatingBreakfast@sopuli.xyz · 18 pts · 1y

Big ol' box of tasty protein bars save me when this happens! I keep them around for when this inevitably happens.. which is often.

Dindonmasker@sh.itjust.works · 15 pts · 1y (7 replies)

Meal replacements really helped me eat more consistently. I just chug one when i get to work at around 9am and another at 1pm to feel good until i eat dinner. I used to not eat breakfast and snack all day wich was definitely worse.

papalonian@lemmy.world · 10 pts · 1y (6 replies)

Which one do you use? I've been wanting to do something like this but they all seem kinda gross and expensive, I might try getting like a single bottle or a small pack though.

whatsgoingdom@rollenspiel.forum · 6 pts · 1y (1 reply)

I tried all I could find, most gave me farts like hell and made me bloated all day. Basically all of them are overpriced BS with way too much sugar and a bloated marketing budget.

fuck_u_spez_in_particular@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 1y

Marketing is indeed a big thing with most. And flatulences as well but it gets better when your gut microbiota adjusts. I wouldn't say too much sugar though (depends obviously) , especially compared to usual ready meals.

stringere@sh.itjust.works · 6 pts · 1y

Not who you asked, but I liked Huel well enough that I'll be re-ordering it soon.

Dindonmasker@sh.itjust.works · 6 pts · 1y

I got soylent powder for about 4 years and i liked it. I switched to a canadian brand called sperri that use (i think) better ingredients and i like it a lot.

474D@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 1y

I've been using Plenny Shakes for years and I haven't found anything better. They taste good and actually calm my stomach

fuck_u_spez_in_particular@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 1y

Try the savory stuff (like huel or Jimmy joy) , I also don't like the powder in the shaker.

thann@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 13 pts · 1y (1 reply)

I'm in this picture and I'd like it to be taken down!

The_Picard_Maneuver@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 1y

jia_tan@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 12 pts · 1y

Mmmm 😋 hypoglycaemia

ryedaft@sh.itjust.works · 4 pts · 1y

Yeah, I got on medication 7 years ago and have gained almost 20 kg.

andrew_bidlaw@sh.itjust.works · 4 pts · 1y

Well, thanks for a reminder.

fubbernuckin@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 4 pts · 1y

I wish I could go that long without eating.

Binette@lemmy.ml · 2 pts · 1y

Don't have ADHD. Probably an executive dysfunction thing, but after being medicated, I can feel hungry
