It’s weirder than that tbh. It’s almost ARG-like since there doesn’t actually seem to be a known scam behind it. Most of the links “she” sends either don’t work or are just empty chat rooms like on Discord that seem to change every once and a while
If you saw any of the posts about people getting weird DMs from a woman, "the fediverse chick" may ring a bell, her supposed name was Nichole. If none of that sounds familiar, just search "fediverse chick" and I'm sure you'll find some posts.
