My grocery stores have these grocery rolling baskets and they're very convenient for small grocery trips

latenightnoir@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 39 pts · 1y (6 replies)

I hate these... as a tall person, I have a choice between cosplaying as Quasimodo, or letting that thing wreck my boot heels...

aBundleOfFerrets@sh.itjust.works · 7 pts · 1y (3 replies)

Bring a length of rope to extend the handle next time

latenightnoir@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 8 pts · 1y (1 reply)

Easier to just carry the groceries in my arms, the last accessory I'd need for people to fully think of me as a serial killer would be random lenths of rope...

Natanael@infosec.pub · 2 pts · 1y

Sometimes I just kick that basket around when I can't be bothered to reach for the handle, lol

Whats_your_reasoning@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 1y

Or attach a leash. Just be sure to remind your cart that it’s a good boy/girl, clean up any messes it makes, and keep it away from the chocolate in the checkout line.

The trouble of being tall o7

Lots of things are just built for average people so if you are short or tall you automatically get inconvenienced

fushuan@lemm.ee · 2 pts · 1y

As another tall person, I just let the front wheels float and extend my arm so the back wheels don't crash into my feet. It... Kinda works.

this is flatbed cart erasure

Handling has got to be negative on those things.

You start going and the weight distribution or ground is uneven and who knows what’s going to happen.

bstix@feddit.dk · 22 pts · 1y

I think speed is mistaken for acceleration in this case. The top one is definitely faster even if it has low acceleration and poor off road wheels.

Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 17 pts · 1y (5 replies)

The top one needs to somehow have a negative value for handling.

wieson@feddit.org · 6 pts · 1y (4 replies)

Only if they have the rear wheels fixed, like in the US. Otherwise, they're great at handling. You can even give em a push and watch them make a pirouette before you, grab the front grill and pull them behind you.

Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 8 pts · 1y (2 replies)

You seem to be ignoring Newton's Fourth Law of Motion:

Whenever you don't expect it (and often when you do), one wheel of a shopping cart will be completely fucked, making the whole thing a nightmare to maneuver.

It's more pithy in the original Neo-Latin 🤷

wise_pancake@lemmy.ca · 4 pts · 1y (1 reply)

That’s even I throw the carts into the lake or push them down the hill behind the mall.

It’s the circle of life. I hear there’s a guy who sells them back to the mall.

lka1988@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 2 pts · 1y

I do that at IKEA all too often... 👀

Need a 5th stat: flair

This reminds me I should really play Nightmare Kart when I've got time

As the Internet was made for cats, I have to inform you that my cat curious about this meme. After looking, he chinned my phone. Good meta confirmed!

pyre@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 1y (1 reply)

what fancy ass market are you shopping where the top cart has so much handling? most of what I've seen has literally negative handling, they actively go another way.

AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 1y

Grocery Outlet: Bargain Market

lka1988@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 5 pts · 1y (3 replies)

You missed the most important one

Whats_your_reasoning@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 1y (2 replies)

I can’t imagine the handling is truly that high, but I do agree that you found the superior cart.

lka1988@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 2 pts · 1y (1 reply)

I can’t imagine the handling is truly that high

Debatable, but agree to disagree.

but I do agree that you found the superior cart.

Indeed

Whats_your_reasoning@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 1y

To be fair, I'm way too big to fit into those drivers' seats. To get a true sense of the handling, we'd need to recruit some toddlers to test drive. I get the feeling they'd agree with you.

infinitesunrise@slrpnk.net · 5 pts · 1y

My supermarket has double decker versions of the small cart. Doubles the capacity in exchange for a slight ding to speed.

colin@lemmy.uninsane.org · 4 pts · 1y

needs a fifth bar for "comfort". i had the middle one in my living room for week but had to get rid of it because it was the most cramp-inducing TV chair i've ever had. bottom one is probably better.

DaGeek247@fedia.io · 4 pts · 1y

The target karts are like a shiny version of the top one.

Zorsith@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 4 pts · 1y (1 reply)

The Ikea shopping cart: maxed out everything.

lka1988@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 2 pts · 1y

Ikea dorifto

hildegarde@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 4 pts · 1y (3 replies)

Top cart is a euro spec cart with swivels on all 4 wheels. By far the superior shopping cart.

Natanael@infosec.pub · 5 pts · 1y (2 replies)

Acceleration may be slower on the top one, but it sure does have speed in straight sections

DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social · 4 pts · 1y (1 reply)

The speed is based entirely on the bioengine provided and should not be counted!

Natanael@infosec.pub · 2 pts · 1y

Do not discount accumulated momentum!

FrostBlazer@lemm.ee · 3 pts · 1y

Okay, but is greasing the wheels racing legal?

Goldholz@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 3 pts · 1y

Is this an american joke i am too european to understand?

moonbunny@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 1y

The bottom shopping cart looks like the funnest one to use. Maybe if I have free time (and space), I’d love to make a larger version

9point6@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 1y

Needs those Costco ones that only have front wheel steering

janus2@lemmy.zip · 1 pts · 1y

using your shopping tote you brought with you:
speed 10/10
handling 8/10
capacity 2/10
stealth: -10/10 (the loss prevention staff will be up your asscrack the entire trip)

MoreFPSmorebetter@lemmy.zip · 0 pts · 1y

Then there's my Safeway with the medium sized plastic ones that feel like they are about to fall apart when I put anything in the cart. I started just using the baskets the carts are so bad.
