I leave the thread for a day or so to read a book I got obsessed with (Drift by C J Turner) and next thing people are talking in German about their pets and Tone's assaulted in the supermarket! Jesus Christ on a bicycle!
My head still hurts this morning, it feels like a bad headache. Trying to do some work but my motivation is pretty low. Still wondering why me? Of all the people gawking at this guy going nuts, I was the one he singled out.
I called the police last night to ask why I hadn't been contacted yet, a sergeant got in contact with me and apologised that the officers at the scene didn't even ask for my details when I told them what happened. The guy had only been charged with property destruction offences before I called, what happened to me wasn't even recorded. What a joke right? I'm giving a statement on Friday.
That's a horrible thing you've been through! Disappointing of the cops to say the least. You were assaulted in a public place in front of how many witnesses? They should've been onto it straight away.
I have no idea. Could be because you turned away or the movement attracted notice, or you were just directly in sight of the single brain cell.
Thatโs concerning. Fingers crossed that itโs all okay ๐คItโs also really poor that the assault wasnโt recorded. Iโm hoping he gets a kick in the arse and winds up with a headache of his own.
I went to make a cup of tea and my favourite mug just went 'crack' right through when I poured the boiling water in. And then the water was coming out the bottom somewhere.
It's probably 20 years old. Very sad. I have a million mugs (I think they breed in the cupboard) but only a handful of 'good' ones which are my go-tos for tea.
Once upon a time the Advanced students got to keep a mug in the teachers lounge because class was out of usual hours. Mine vanished. After exams were over a dickhead I once had a crush on admitted to breaking it months ago. Dude...
I think I figured out why I'm not enjoying my new role.
The people are nerds, but not in a good way. They're the nerds that were teacher pleasing brown-nosers who would throw anyone and everyone under a bus to get an inch ahead.

Does anyone here try to "one up" their partner? So, I made spag bol (lots of servings) for the man with garlic bread. He's buying me fresh oysters and caviar. I bought him grapes. I think I've lost this one.
We do with surprise gifts. My wife a cool set of PJs for me recently and got them. I reciprocated with a nicer set for her. Pretty much told her no more sleepwear for the time being. At risk of getting pricey and silky
Finished stressful work day. Having beer in beer garden while I wait for my friend to finish work. Then we go try a new Sichuan restaurant (kind of our hobby eating at new restaurants, typically Chinese?.
.
Got the "Mixed spicy" (without further clarification listed in english) which was unexpectedly a cold dish, kinda like hainanese chicken in soup but with Szechuan flavour (lots of numbing). Very good!
One of my recent favourites has been Old St Hunan: https://g.co/kgs/Yrcrm7u
I feel like I need more tries of tonights place: Pretty Sichuan taste https://maps.app.goo.gl/m7hLJ6KzP6G2e79G9 but I was highly impressed. Felt very authentic, and great value. I don't think I've had a dish in Melbourne with that much numbing spice before, it was awesome.
I'm also a big fan of a few of the hand pulled Chinese noodle spots in the CBD, like Bowltiful, but my favourite is probably Master Lanzhou Chinese Noodles (Specifically the Swanston st store which has bigger variety)
I got caught in a fine icy rain on my walk, and now that I'm back the sun's out. I'm sitting in the sun on the lounge with a cup of coffee, dog at my side and cat at my feet. This is very pleasant.
Mr Woof has taken over the master bedroom and seems pretty relaxed about the whole move. He is still a bit unsure about the dog door though.
Miss Meow is less happy. She's spent lot of time exploring, but spent most of yesterday hiding in the sewing room. I don't think she likes the change of routine much, but she'll get used to it. She's been very cuddly overnight, even cuddled up to Mr Woof on the bed. She's not been outside yet, but given the weather is a bit miserable that's probably not much of an attraction anyway.
Best way is to just start. Even if you feel the output is useless gibberish, and just keep at it for at least short time, maybe 15-30 min if you can. Then take a break and revise the gibberish, youโll be surprised there will be useful starting points in there, or youโll think this is all wrong, it should be xyz instead- and there you have it, youโve started and have a direction to go in.
I've got a security camera set up in the lounge room, which caught her in the middle of the night climbing up to the very top tower and gazing out the window.

I'm afraid to say I only read two papers and wrote down about two lines of notes but the upshot is my brain seemed to be doing some reorganising/processing and I didn't leave uni feeling sick and worthless like all the other times I didn't get stuff done. That's helpful because the avoidance is definitely coming from an emotional place...
... And I managed to have a really good psych session today which, while intense, helped me get through the "everything feels like shit", "ADHD executive function hacks aren't helping" part and through to reframing things with a trauma lens (I had an academically hardcore schooling experience that ended badly and this has brought up a lot more of those subsumed thought patterns than I thought).
Like physically I feel better; I feel heard and things make sense and maybe I can try something different to get through all this. Rather than go "I have no executive function to walk into a crowd of people who will torture me and then push me off a cliff. Maybe if I break it down into steps it will help" and wonder why it's not working...
One thing I've decided to allow myself until I finish this is splurging on whatever I want with food. If eating lunch out daily, or getting all the smoked salmon, or getting TWO pizzas helps fill the tank, I have my full permission.
:::
Anyway I'm going to go buy some smoked salmon now and see what goodies are available at the Nice Woolies while I'm here.
E: there was smoked salmon on CLEARANCE so it was meant to be. And I bought some vegan meat thingos and frozen fish fillets on clearance and a bag of chips and tinned sardines and my favourite brand of instant coffee. And treats for sox, which were gladly consumed.
Sox is randomly jumping at things right now and has had much more of an appetite than usual today. I'm chalking it up to boredom/attention-seeking.
Oooor maybe we will look back on today and go "the cats knew about the earthquake that would devastate us all, but they had no way to tell us as it was wrecking their own minds".
Sometimes we play the unsolved case files games in which the players are given a murder case and a series of questions to answer. The answers for each step are in sealed envelopes and you cannot proceed without correctly identifying each clue. A file folder on each suspect is included, along with maps and newspaper clippings. We might spend weeks on it and get nowhere.
It can be frustrating, however, they are enlightening to the fact that in order to succeed, a patient and detail oriented mindset can win the day.
Catastrophic data loss isn't a great phrase to leave a meeting with. Might happen unless the National level gets Jimmy from Admin off the tech support inbox.
Decided to book some nights down near the peninsula for the long weekend. There is a dinosaur park and children's farms that should keep the boys busy.
It's meant to be cold and wet, so no big adventures, but its a part of Melbourne so far away we wouldn't bother going down there otherwise because it wouldn't be worth the time
There are so many holes in Erin's story that I can't even. The kids said that they weren't at the lunch because there "adult things" to discuss, yet Erin is saying the kids weren't interested? Yet she hosted the lunch because the kids enjoyed the last one they had with their grandparents? Tasted the blend, thought it was bland, added dried mushrooms "Now I think that there was a possibility that there were foraged ones in there as well," but doesn't taste it again afterwards to double check?!
I get the impression she's a compulsive liar that might not even know what the truth is herself. That was what made it so weird initially, when I read the story I assumed it was an accidental poisoning, it was really just her not giving a straight account of where the mushrooms came from that made it look sus. If she'd just gone with "oops, I foraged mushrooms and obviously made a terrible mistake" it probably would have just been another tragic story of mushrooming gone wrong.
Absolutely! She can't seem to do anything without a lie being exposed, nothing she says is straight. Someone yesterday called that she'd bring her eating disorder into it and claim she threw up lunch and that's why she wasn't as sick as the others and that's exactly what she's just done.
I need popcorn as well! I know it's morbid, but I'm really interested in true crime and court proceedings - I usually get my fix from US YouTube videos of courts. My favourite are when narcissists self-represent and get into the witness box.
It's refreshing to have an Aus court proceedings so well documented!
Idk what Erin was thinking, I want to give her the benefit of the doubt and believe it was manslaughter, but... It's really sounding like she knocked them off purposefully.
I honestly feel like I can't look away and honestly, I'm not that big into true crime or court proceedings. I can understand how riveting they are they though!
I used to think I was bad at graphic design and creative work, but now I think the problem is Adobe software. After being able to punch things out in GIMP, Inkscape, and Davinci Resolve, I tried to do some basic work in Premiere Pro at work and hit the same walls I did in Photoshop.
Maybe the problem isn't me, it's that the software is laid out like shit. Plus, the workflow for every adobe product is different, whereas there is at least some consistency between entirely separate FOSS equivalents.
There's always so much to buy setting up a new place though. I've got a stand to put my toaster oven/air fryer on, a bathroom cabinet so I've got somewhere to put the toilet paper, another storage rack for the laundry, a dustpan and brush (mine did not survive the move), new dog poo scoop (who really wants to move a used one?!) and a fence to go outside to create a pet barrier to where the side gate is (which has a gap Miss Meow might manage to squeeze under) and create a little yard for the bins.
Sorting plans for today are the bedroom/wardrobe, and a bit more in the kitchen. I made a good start on the pantry yesterday, got some preliminary sorting of the ensuite cabinet, and set up an area in the garage for putting shoes on/off and hanging outdoor coats etc. I've got a couple more floor mats to bring up to add to the area to minimise dust that gets tracked in and will see if I can find some carpet offcuts and things to cover a bit more - if I can get the area around the door to the house and the pathway across to the other external door covered it would be ideal.
Melbcatโs test results are good so Iโm not sure why sheโs still sooky and eating like a horse? Sheโs definitely off about something.
Her kidneys are a little bit worse though ๐ Makes sense. During the uti Iโve been prioritising wet food consumption for hydration, so have been leaving out the chalky phosphate binder that puts her off it. Maybe Iโll start trying to reintroduce it.
Iโm glad sheโs eating well though. Sheโs cuddled up with me and very cute.
Everything is just fog here, although blue sky is starting to appear in patches now. Once the "feels like" temp gets above zero I'll take Mr Woof for a walk ๐ฅถ
I got a text from YL saying she's going to hairdresser after school because she's not happy with her fringe she cut herself. We've all been there. Unfortunately hairdressers can't grow hair back.

Decided to book some nights down near the peninsula for the long weekend. There is a dinosaur park and children's farms that should keep the boys busy.
It's meant to be cold and wet, so no big adventures, but its a part of Melbourne so far away we wouldn't bother going down there otherwise because it wouldn't be worth the time
Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 1y
there's a really nice animal park down there, Moonlit Sanctuary, that the kids might like.

I NEED POPCORN.
RustyRaven@aussie.zone · 6 pts · 1y
I get the impression she's a compulsive liar that might not even know what the truth is herself. That was what made it so weird initially, when I read the story I assumed it was an accidental poisoning, it was really just her not giving a straight account of where the mushrooms came from that made it look sus. If she'd just gone with "oops, I foraged mushrooms and obviously made a terrible mistake" it probably would have just been another tragic story of mushrooming gone wrong.
SpinMeAround@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 1y
Absolutely! She can't seem to do anything without a lie being exposed, nothing she says is straight. Someone yesterday called that she'd bring her eating disorder into it and claim she threw up lunch and that's why she wasn't as sick as the others and that's exactly what she's just done.

Why did her legal team think it was a good idea to put her on the stand? The prosecution is going to destroy her credibility.
SpinMeAround@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 1y
She's destroying what little she has just with her own lawyer! I wonder who had the idea of putting her up there.
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 1y
I think that's why she's on the stand, to clear things up but instead it's a fucking car crash. ๐ฟ
SpinMeAround@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 1y
I honestly wish I could see what's happening because everything is saying is just mental and nothing seems to line up.
StudChud@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 1y
I need popcorn as well! I know it's morbid, but I'm really interested in true crime and court proceedings - I usually get my fix from US YouTube videos of courts. My favourite are when narcissists self-represent and get into the witness box.
It's refreshing to have an Aus court proceedings so well documented!
Idk what Erin was thinking, I want to give her the benefit of the doubt and believe it was manslaughter, but... It's really sounding like she knocked them off purposefully.
SpinMeAround@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 1y

I need to stop shopping and start sorting.
