Wrong singer

Solely_a_Catt@programming.dev · 34 pts · 1y

The op had one job and failed it :(

FerretyFever0@fedia.io · 11 pts · 1y (15 replies)

Unfortunately. RIP. She's an okay singer, but she is a Scientologist, so there's that.

trxxruraxvr@lemmy.world · 10 pts · 1y (5 replies)

Her parents are, afaik she never spoke out about it herself

FerretyFever0@fedia.io · 4 pts · 1y (4 replies)

I don't think we'll get confirmation for certain, so we can all just guess whichever one makes us feel better.

trxxruraxvr@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 1y (3 replies)

Religion becomes problematic when people start telling others what they can or can't do. So as long as she doesn't speak about her religion I'm fine either way.

FerretyFever0@fedia.io · 3 pts · 1y (2 replies)

Unfortunately, that's Scientology's whole thing.

trxxruraxvr@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 1y (1 reply)

What is?

FerretyFever0@fedia.io · 2 pts · 1y

Telling people what they can and can't do. Especially the people that were in higher positions that leave.

TrickDacy@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 1y (8 replies)

Who?

FerretyFever0@fedia.io · 9 pts · 1y (7 replies)

Emily Armstrong is a Scientologist, right? Or am I thinking of someone else?

RidderSport@feddit.org · 16 pts · 1y (6 replies)

She has/had ties to Scientology but allegedly never herself was one and frankly I choose to believe her because it would destroy the image I have of the rest if the band.

FerretyFever0@fedia.io · 9 pts · 1y

Fair enough. Apparently she's broken several rules, so either out of it, or getting special treatment.

OfficeMonkey@lemmy.today · 1 pts · 1y (4 replies)

Didn't the rest of the band mostly retire when she joined?

RidderSport@feddit.org · 6 pts · 1y

About half of them I believe, but causation and correlation are not equal

LeFrog@discuss.tchncs.de · 2 pts · 1y (1 reply)

Where did you get this information from?

OfficeMonkey@lemmy.today · 2 pts · 1y

A clearly misremembered or misread news article when the comeback tour was announced.

xx3rawr@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 1y

Only the drummer left, way before their reunion, and the guitarist just preferred touring less so they just have a touring guitarist. AFAIK.

Rhaxapopouetl@ttrpg.network · 2 pts · 1y

Sorry for now

killeronthecorner@lemmy.world · -7 pts · 1y (2 replies)

Currently yes, but they used to have a really good one!

trxxruraxvr@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 1y (1 reply)

Chester never sang the song referenced by the meme

killeronthecorner@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 1y

It was a joke implying they used to have a better singer

ArgumentativeMonotheist@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 1y

BIG RIP

Only in my early adulthood did I understand why the anger and pain Chester shared with the world resonated so strongly within me. Also, "Papercut" is such a strong album opener, jeez! Comparable, to my knowledge, only by Yeezus' "On Sight", which never leaves my jogging playlist, lol.

When did the pronunciation change from N-E-S to Nes?

trxxruraxvr@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 1y

I'm not in an English speaking country, but I never heard it pronounced N-E-S

sawdustprophet@midwest.social · 5 pts · 1y (5 replies)

When did the pronunciation change from N-E-S to Nes?

Of the people I knew as a kid, the "N.E.S."/"Nes" divide was about even (I'm in the US)

UnpledgedCatnapTipper@piefed.blahaj.zone · 5 pts · 1y (2 replies)

I use both interchangeably, though the SNES is always just Snes.

_stranger_@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 1y

I've never heard anyone refer to either as nes or snes, it was always spelled out.

petrol_sniff_king@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 4 pts · 1y

Ah, the Sneeze.

WhiskyTangoFoxtrot@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 1y

When I was a kid we just called it a Nintendo. We didn't start using any pronunciation of "NES" until later consoles were out.

Kimjongtooill@sh.itjust.works · 1 pts · 1y

I hadn't heard "nes" until very recently. Was always N.E.S. to anyone I talked to. Granted, I'm 39. I thought for sure it was the next gen that started calling it that.

NigelFrobisher@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 1y

Always was.
