As far as strawberry cheesecake goes, I'm pretty impressed by my efforts. Candles and singing later, I just made sure it survived the trip out of the tin.
Thankyou all for the uplifting! Birthday song has been sung, cake has been cut and it is delicious and will feed us for a few days if we're not piggies. Who am I kidding,....
Comparatively is a very dangerous word to use here. We're talking an event that does include my grandfather literally dying in the middle of my 18th birthday party and (another year) ME almost dying (not hyperbole. I spent my 33rd birthday in the ICU with a 10% chance of survival.)
Just went outside on this glorious day for a break - and met a bloke walking his new golden retriever puppy. 16 weeks old and all paws and ears and goodwill to all mankind. Made my day.
Shoestring fries are probably my favourite. But they're unhealthy so need to be eaten in moderation, same for crisps.
Wedges can be risky. I've had a bunch that haven't been cooked well. They're easy to prepare at home but isn't that just kinda a rustic style roast?

I gave Mr Woof a long overdue bath. He was not pleased.
It was a touch awkward but I managed to get the raised dog bath in the bathroom so it was partly in the shower and I could use the shower hose to wash and also drain the dirty water back into the shower. The tiles got a bit wet but not enough to cause any real problems. Now that I know I have a setup that works Mr Woof may be doomed to more frequent baths again.

Baked potato is best.
However the potato variety in Australia is pretty bad.
Proper baking potatoes (Russett?) and Yukon Gold potatoes for mashing are top tier.
Y'all can argue, but you'd be wrong.
SituationCake@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 362d
I wonโt argue. I reckon potato quality has been declining for years. Iโve tried all the supermarket ones and ones from green grocers and I just canโt replicate the fluffiness and flavour of baked or roast potatoes I remember from decades ago. Where. Are. The. GOOD. Potatoes.
