Most/Many countries don't allow the executive to overrule the judiciary with pardons. Only a courts should be able to decide if and how long someone will be punished based solely on the laws at the time. I don't know whether Brazil is one of them.
I think the issue with that could be that if the act for which they were sentenced becomes legal then it can be a bit dubious to hold someone in prison over it. For example places where homosexuality was criminal and has since been legalized.
That requires the legislature to create a new law pardoning everyone who was sentenced and not selectively pardoning high-profile people, like in the US.
This would be blatantly unconstitutional for crimes like treason. Legalizing treason is possibly the most unconstitutional a law can be.
They did it legally through gerrymandering and said they were going to "fix the machines" before the election. I believe them. Trump even said months before the election to not worry about the votes, he's got it covered or something like that. This was way before Biden got old.
Yes it does in some states. The people who were elected through gerrymandering have a say in who runs the election boards and what the election laws are in a lot of those states. You can bet your ass that they have charts upon charts laying out exactly which states and how they can do that.

May I add to the important topics? I have thought the same thing, but the list isn’t complete without a generational continuity for scientific literacy and free-thought/skepticism as well.
We have to expect that there will inevitably be someone attempting to manipulate and hold sway over people of the future. Not a point in history exists without struggles for power, and in our own lifetime we’ve seen just how bad the misinformation can get. The future is going to be even more confusing. Solidifying the values listed above is crucial, but without also encouraging skepticism, humans will continue to be swayed by irrational arguments that appeal to basic impulses.
It feels like a lofty goal, I admit, but the best way to combat disinformation is to inoculate yourself against it. The more our children can understand the basic reasoning behind science, internalize the idea of “learning from mistakes,” and can recognize and dismiss logical fallacies, the better their chances will be to resist the con artists that chronically masquerade as “leaders.”

My point is that bringing up the whiteness of Jews in general is already problematic. ‘White’ is a social category, not a scientific one. Who is white depends on who the majority of white people want to be white. In many ways the initial exclusion and then later inclusion of Irish and Italian immigrants in the US hinged on them becoming part of the system that oppressed indigenous and black Americans.
In that sense it makes complete sense that an Ashkenazi (European) Jewish man, whose parents were colonizers from Europe who moved to Israel, who is exacting a genocide on a group of people that are decidedly not considered white, might be considered white by other white people. There is certainly a history (past and present) of excluding all Jewish people from the category of whiteness, but blinding ourselves to the racism of the present, along with who is benefitting and who is suffering, is unwise.

Unfortunately the colonial era has made it such that race and class are inextricably tied for the forseeable future.
White supremacist ideology is what got us here. Ignoring race is not going to get us out.
Its not a fluke that Nazis are all white. Racial supremacist ideologies tend to be held by people of that race.

I don't think making the focus on the fact that they're all white, is helping.
Then being white is more of a statement of fact and while it's not relevant to the main point, bringing focus to that as if its the problem with this statement, detracts from the message being delivered.
As a white dude, I'm okay with the statement as it has been said. Whitey has been responsible for a lot of fucked up shit in the world.

The US is still a tyrant controlling global relationa for its own benefit.

My point is that bringing up the whiteness of Jews in general is already problematic. Whiteness in itself is already a problematic and nebulous concept used as a means of determining in- and out-groups and using it to describe the group who has probably the longest history of being considered both white and non-white is treading ground that's favoured by racists. It's like bringing IQ into the conversation. Can we just not do that?

I feel like a lot of people missed your point- not just about Jews but the concept of "white" in general has been nebulous throughout history.
Irish people, Italian, greek... Pretty much all Mediterranean people. There's been tons of conversations about whether Egyptians should be considered white, and which ones. The Nazi's labelled the Japanese as "honorary Aryans".
"White" is not based in anything physical or real. It's a concept made up to exclude others and has changed based on who they want to include or exclude.

Exactly. I'm a member of a group that has often been considered nonwhite. Many on the left, on Lemmy or elsewhere, are unaware of how racist they are actually being. Some of course are actually racist, but I dare hope it's only a few.

‘White’ is a social category, not a scientific one. Who is white depends on who the majority of white people want to be white. In many ways the initial exclusion and then later inclusion of Irish and Italian immigrants in the US hinged on them becoming part of the system that oppressed indigenous and black Americans.
In that sense it makes complete sense that an Ashkenazi (European) Jewish man, whose parents were colonizers from Europe who moved to Israel, who is exacting a genocide on a group of people that are decidedly not considered white, might be considered white by other white people. There is certainly a history (past and present) of excluding all Jewish people from the category of whiteness, but blinding ourselves to the racism of the present, along with who is benefitting and who is suffering, is unwise.

Putin is not avoiding prison. Very moderate and thoughtful for Russia. Best leader of our times is a reasonable epithet. When you were told that Yeltsin was the result of perfect Russian democracy, you were told this because he was a corrupt CIA stooge. It's only pure depraved lies to suggest that Russia is not conducting a defensive war in Ukraine.

I don't know the details of Chechnya enough, but Georgia was also a 100% defensive intervention by Russia. The result of yet another US demonic corruption of democracy (much much cheaper abroad compared to Israel gifts laundered back into US election control) where CIA managed to get current nazi Ukrainian mayor of Odessa (war criminal in Georgia) to be President of Georgia who immediately forced secession of regions of Georgia, just as the 2014 CIA coup in Ukraine did.
That Trump is an overt instrument of evil directed internally towards Americans, is the only change in US governance, as the US offering better support for Israel Zionazism and global domination was always its supremacist entitlement. Somehow, everyone here knows that the US is demonically responsible for manufacturing every war, except trust us this one time somehow, as the nice Ukrainian nazis the US put into rulership did absolutely nothing to provoke war on Russia.
