Not fair! Last time I exhibited the bleached bones of my slain enemies in my lair, I got arrested.

Oh, what sad times are these when passing ruffians can say Ni at will to old ladies.

Bring A shrubbery

Johanno@feddit.org · 9 pts · 344d

If you take the German title "Ritter der Kokosnuss" and translate it back to english it is Knights of the the coconut.

Well because they use coconuts instead of horses....

It's one of the older LoTR cartoons

The Bashki cut, right?

FuglyDuck@lemmy.world · 0 pts · 344d (10 replies)

You haven’t seen Montey Python and the Holy Grail?

Relax. We’ve only ever seen it in clips. Though it is obligatory to insult you in a terrible accent: You’re mother was a Hamster and your father smelled of elderberries!

(Seriously though, it was one of those movies that almost no one has watched, but has seen most of anyway.)

angrystego@lemmy.world · 14 pts · 344d (2 replies)

How almost no one has watched it? In my bubble, almost everyone has seen it multiple times, often in cinema during rereleases - it's a cult classic!

FuglyDuck@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 344d (1 reply)

You know what makes a cult classic a cult classic, right? Very passionate but also niche fan bases.

It’s a great and iconic film, but most people have never actually seen it end to end.

HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 344d

wait fuck i gotta add another cult to the list of cults i joined dammit

phdepressed@sh.itjust.works · 13 pts · 344d (3 replies)

There's a fair bit of humor you miss out on if you've only seen clips and memes. Most of my irl friends have seen it and blazing saddles, though that could be my fault...

Barbarian@sh.itjust.works · 18 pts · 344d (2 replies)

The ending is a real cop-out though

angrystego@lemmy.world · 9 pts · 344d

Underrated comment.

Everyone I have met who was worth talking to has seen and loved this movie. Am I old?

HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 344d

it was a rite of passage when your parents finally thought you were old enough to watch Holy Grail

Girls only care about one thing and that's pointless demonstration of power in pictures.

The Bowerbird’s Bower is not a nest or a home, think more like a box from which a potential mate will watch him do a little one man show. It’s a temporary display.

vaultdweller013@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 344d

Me building a hand puppet set and bench to attract potential mates.

prettybunnys@sh.itjust.works · 7 pts · 344d (1 reply)

Not nearly enough blue imo

reallykindasorta@slrpnk.net · 9 pts · 344d

You probably already know this but for the others, different species of Bowerbirds have different color preferences! There is some speculation these preferences might relate to their own coloring. Also some speculation this might be due to regional traditions.

The Satin Bowerbird prefers blue, both the male and female have blue eyes and the male has that metallic black (almost blue-looking) feathering that some ravens have.

Yeah, let’s keep that red pill shit the fuck off this instance, my bro, what the fuck my guy why even say that?

reallykindasorta@slrpnk.net · 4 pts · 344d (1 reply)

Totally off base for the meme anyway since the Bowerbird’s Bower is not the equivalent of a house/nest and is much more akin to a little opera box from which the potential mate will watch him perform a little dance.

dickalan@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 344d

I honestly suspect some astroturfing Russian bullshit, but I call it out whenever I see it
