I mean, read the books.... the reason he was rejected from the musketeers was because he needed to serve in another unit for a period of time. he goes away getting into duels with everyone, because he was a gascon, and they were basically the muricans of the time. In any case, during his adventure in which he was doing a favor for the queen

during the ordeal, the Cardinal's man- Count Stinky Cheese- (aka Captain Balthasar de Montmorency, Count of Rochefort,)- was given a full parden for things he did. D'Artagnan got caught and was being accused of treason, but had successfully gotten the favor done. Since he was apparently Capable, the Cardinal handed him a captaincy with his soldiers; in part for averting the worst of the Cardinal's plans. (I think the king suggested it as a way to get the D'Artagnan the experience for the musketeers.)

the unit that Charles de Batz de Castelmore served in was called Les Mousquetaires du Roi, or the the Musketeers of the king. Charles de Batz de Castlemore served as a captain in the unit during Lois XIII and Dumas roughly based his novels off his exploits.

As an aside, one of the few things the movies gets right about the novel (or even just the period) was the general foppishness of the military culture and upper-classes of the time.

He is in ten years later (which iirc, the movie is closer to in plot.)

In the books, he goes to the musketeers and presents his father’s letter of introduction, but gets turned away since he needed to serve a period of time in another unit. By the end of musketeers, he joins the Cardinal’s and goes to war with the three.

Edit: to clarify, the war is against England, not the cardinal. the Duke of Buckingham invades and france's armies are called up- including both the Cardinal's church soldiers and the king's musketeers. There's a lovely little scene where they're at a siege, the defenders are lobbing cannon at them, and the french infantry are mostly hanging back waiting for something to change. D'Artangan takes a dare or bet to go eat lunch within range of the castle's cannon and the three go join him, hurling insults at the english.

There are arrangements of magnets that can levitate a steel ball bearing a certain distance above it. You could then imbed the ball bearing in the tone board. since the resonators themselves aren't touching (never mind fixed to) the tone board, it should be possible to do, if finicky.

There's two problems I see. First, it would require some fairly strong magnetic fields to achieve, and secondly, anything that's going to keep your tone board constrained at the appropriate position is going to dampen the vibrations.

They didn’t work to “enrich their leadership” until centuries later.

Evidence?

Early on, it was about sharing all you have and owning everything in common. Which, funny enough, is exactly how communism claims to work.

Funny enough, there was inequality in the followers of Jesus, too. Or did you think the "Crowds™️" all got to hang out at rich people banquets and with prostitutes?

Go read the bible again. Start with the old testament. pay attention to the Law and to the prophets. and then go to the new testament. and everytime it says 'and they did x to fulfill y', ask yourself, 'did they really fulfil y, or are they just making shit up.' And then read the supposed words of jesus and ask yourself, 'is this the language of someone who loves someone and wants what's best for them, or is this the language of someone whose exploiting them?'

Cuz telling people to hate their parents and to leave them and join a vagabond doomsday cult is not particularly loving. It's isolating. And you will notice, that Jesus targeted the desperate and the vulnerable. Like very con artist faith healer in history. the kinds of people so desperate they would give up everything they have.

You understand he gave the same greedy-ass command to the poor and desperate, right?

That’s how his cult worked. You get hooked with fake-ass miracles. You’d move out of your home, sell all your shit and give all your money to the cult.

That is, in point of fact, how they work to enrich the cult’s leadership.the rich guy didn’t walk away because he was a greedy rich guy. He walked away because he saw it for what it was: a grift.

I mean, sure. Maybe. Probably?

But can you imagine anything more terrifying than a multi-ton Canada goose charging and honking at you?

Holy hell, if christ were real he would have such stern words for them on judgement day. It would go something along the lines of “Depart from me, for I never knew you.”

I mean... I don't believe he was a faith healer, or at least, not legitimately one that actually healed shit. I don't believe he's the son of god, or that he did anything miraculous.

And I have no reason to believe any of that.

So, let me ask this: What reason to I have to believe he wasn't a charlatan getting rich off the people around him- including the destitute that gave everything to be healed? One would will also notice that most of his closest disciples were in fact successful businessmen. And that he preferred to hang around rich-people's homes.

This rather looks like candied peel. (Basically, you simmer citrus peels in a simple sugar, then allow it to dry, and repeat a few times.)

Though, I usually make lemonade using a giant pile of zest in a simple syrup, so this might be just as delicious.

If you think people are going to vote for a candidate that’s actively supporting the genocide of relatives, even if that candidate is a little less enthusiastic about it….

YOU ARE THE DELUSIONAL ONE.

Harris made a decision that going after centrist/undecided voters was going to net more votes than courting the Palestinian vote. Or the Muslim vote; and that was wrong.

She told all of us in no uncertain terms that she was don’t to be another milquetoast Biden campaign. For fuck’s sake, Netanyahu was lying to Biden’s face without repercussion, but there’s not a thing she’d do differently?!
