Jimmy Kimmel is more popular than Donald Trump, a new poll has found, following a public showdown between the two men that resulted in the talk show host being briefly taken off-air.

The survey, conducted by YouGov, asked respondents if they held favorable opinions of both men.

When asked about Kimmel, 44 percent said they had a favorable opinion of the comedian, while 41 percent said they did not. Fifteen percent said they were undecided, giving Kimmel a net favorability of +3.

That is genuinely the funniest way to upset the president of the united states

frunch@lemmy.world · 17 pts · 329d

And you know it's gonna

“The president of what?” -line from ‘Escape from New York’

psycho_driver@lemmy.world · 57 pts · 329d (7 replies)

Of course he is. He's not a sack of month old cat turds.

Captain_Buddha@lemmy.world · 14 pts · 329d (1 reply)

This somehow still feels insulting to a sack of month old cat turds... at least that can be compostable.

bigbabybilly@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 329d

Oh, he’ll be compostable one day. I just wouldn’t eat anything where his remains are used…

errer@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 329d

He’s barely more favorable, a few points. That’s really really sad.

wait is there a month old sack of cat turds that is running? I would be interested in seeing some literature please

I had never paid much attention to Kimmel, (or any late night host personality) but sure I’ll watch Kimmel now.

cokeslutgarbage@sh.itjust.works · 1 pts · 328d

I don't think he's funny and I actually think he's kind of a weenie and I don't like him very much as a person, but I actively watched his return episode and now I let his show run in the background to boost viewership.

Don't really know how else to participate in the revolution, I'm pretty useless, but if I can contribute to trump having a tempertantrum, that's wonderful !

xoxo

What's the point of words like favorable opinion when it results in a 16 point split between a late show comedian and a Nazi conman?

I don't know what opinion means, or what it means for people to state their answer, other than the superficial takeaway that they produced noises xyz when prompted with question 123. And? Is there any solid ground here to build on top of?

When asked about Trump, 41 percent had favorable views in contrast to 54 percent who said they did not and 5 percent were undecided, giving the president a -13 net favorability.

The results gave Kimmel a 16-point lead in favorability, according to the YouGov poll.

5% can't decide if Trump is an asshole or not.

idiomaddict@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 328d

That’s the perplexing part. Maybe 5% of respondents don’t speak English well and didn’t understand the question.

slaneesh_is_right@lemmy.org · 12 pts · 328d

What a huge W for Kimmel. I bet he always wanted to be more popular than a fat pedophile fascist

CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world · 12 pts · 328d (9 replies)

I bet the 41% have never actually watched the show.

madcaesar@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 328d (2 replies)

His into monologues are always fun. Most of the late night guys have good shows. Except Fallon. That guy sucks pure ass.

watson387@sopuli.xyz · 3 pts · 328d

Jimmy Fallon is fucking terrible.

CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 328d

I'm kind of lukewarm on Fallon. I dip in every once in a while, but he's just way too "centrist" for my liking. This is the guy that tousled Taco's hair just before the 2016 election, right? So the fact that he still seems to be way too apolitical now is not all that surprising. I'm not sure he sucks ass, I usually just watch everything else and then maybe him if I get to it....

The joke of these polls is that if their rolls were reversed, I'm more than confident that Trump would outpoll Kimmel.

The Jester is always going to be more popular than the King. That's why the job exists.

Professorozone@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 328d

Not to be a grammar Nazi, but I find your misspelling of "roles" to be hilarious.

Zoot@reddthat.com · 1 pts · 328d (1 reply)

Or people just don't like a pedophile, who's also been convicted of what like 30+ felonies, and who is currently trying to destroy the country.

If Jimmy ALSO was like that then I could totally see the roles being reversed and people being in favor of the guy with significantly less power. However even with no power trump is still one of the worst people there is.

UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 328d

Or people just don’t like a pedophile

We know that's not true. Hollywood is choke full of them.

If Jimmy ALSO was like that

Jimmy's entire early career was getting 13 year olds horny and laughing about it. Nevermind the age bracket of "Women Jumping on Trampolines". Kimmel and Carolla walked right up to the edge all the time.

SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca · -3 pts · 328d (1 reply)

well, its not actually good.

CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 328d

It is, though. I love his monologues.

ExtremeDullard@piefed.social · 9 pts · 329d

I think a smelly turd is more popular than Trump right now.

ech@lemmy.ca · 7 pts · 329d

Not as a slight against Jimmy but...of course he is. A roasted dog turd would beat that fuck in a poll.

JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 329d

He should do an opening monologue with this poll and the line 'thanks trump!'

BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today · 6 pts · 329d

We needed a poll for that?

stupidcasey@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 329d (1 reply)

I mean, a half eaten gas station taco after I've already had lunch is more popular than Trump, let's not make a martyr of this sub par comedian.

ZoopZeZoop@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 328d

I used to really enjoy his unnecessary censorship bit. I thought the idea was clever and the execution yielded some funny results. No idea if they still do that and whether it is still funny.

HubertManne@piefed.social · 4 pts · 328d

I mean name me anyone less popular than trump.

SlippiHUD@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 329d

Are they trying to manufacture consent for a Kimmel Presidency run? Kimmel numbers are not great, Trump's number are just worse.

CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 328d

This should not shock anyone. Did someone really think Kimmel was anywhere near as polarizing a figure as The Orange Jesus?

Most normal Americans despise Taco.

You are expecting too much. The tech giants got an axe to grind. They "suffered" from FTC investigations under Biden. That's why they are colluding with Trump to look the other way. Many tech giants are also embedding themselves in to the military to furnish and fortify themselves with more political power.

Leprosy probably has better numbers than trump
