Recommended mobile apps for Lemmy?

Specifically for iOS. IMO the in browser experience is perfectly serviceable, if a bit clunky. I'm also new to this platform so in time I'll know how to work with it. But I'm also a bit of a luddite and I have fat sausage fingers...

I can highly reccomend voyager :)

ordnance_qf_17_pounder@reddthat.com · 28 pts · 285d

Voyager for me. It's a direct copy of Apollo for Reddit, which was an excellent app before the bastards at Reddit made it die.

Voyager is best and is also available for Android.

Note that "best" is a matter of preference.

I just switched from Voyager to Mlem. I can't think of anything I miss but can list of things I like more

some_kind_of_guy@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 284d (1 reply)

Mlem is iOS only unfortunately

porcoesphino@mander.xyz · 4 pts · 284d

Doesn't the OP say iOS?

I like Thunder, but it probably depends on which specific features are important to you. Someone should make a comparison table that lists all the core features for each app.

I've been using Mlem and really enjoy it. The devs are really responsive if you have a question or issue, too.

porcoesphino@mander.xyz · 3 pts · 285d

I was using Mlem and loving it after switching from Voyager with a quick trial of Arctic. I posted asking about missing features here and the comments end with me switching:

I butchered the post but it might be useful

Blorp or Mlem. Only been here for a few days myself. Tried Voyager but it refreshed too much for me.

moseschrute@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 283d (1 reply)

Hi, I’m the Blorp dev. I would love to learn more about your thoughts on refreshing content, so I can make sure I don’t accidentally break that in the future.

FrostyFire@lemmy.frozeninferno.xyz · 3 pts · 283d

The refreshing only happens in voyager. If I answer the phone or email or look something up when I go back to voyager it’s like I started over again instead of going back to where I was before. Blorp is fine tho. I really like it, thnx!

Hey, gonna send you a dm i hope its ok. I have a blorp question and prolly a screenshot.

Boost all the way, baby!

It was my favourite Reddit client, and now it's back as brilliant as ever for Lemmy too, no need to try to get used to a new app that does things weirdly or not how I like it ♥️

noughtnaut@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 285d (3 replies)

I just tried it. There's ads on every screen. Bye, Boost!

hexagonwin@lemmy.sdf.org · 2 pts · 285d

try using adaway, works great. lucky patcher also works

ProperlyProperTea@lemmy.ml · 2 pts · 285d (1 reply)

Weird, no ads on Android for me

YeahIgotskills2@lemmy.world · 0 pts · 285d

Just tiny banners at the bottom. Genuinely didn't notice until just now.

double_oh_walter@sh.itjust.works · 4 pts · 285d (3 replies)

Arctic gets my vote!

IAmLamp@fedia.io · 7 pts · 285d (2 replies)

Arctic is great, but it appears to be abandonware at this point. I have occasional problems with it failing to fetch posts, now, too. Haven’t pinned down why.

porcoesphino@mander.xyz · 2 pts · 285d

Yeah, I found it odd that it seemed to load slower than other clients, as if it had a proxy somewhere that was slow. But that just doesn't make sense

double_oh_walter@sh.itjust.works · 1 pts · 285d

Oh, no! I haven’t been keeping up.

tal@lemmy.today · 3 pts · 285d

I use Eternity on Android. Interstellar when on Piefed. The latter is still rougher around the edges.

Drbreen@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 285d (2 replies)

I second Boost. But I haven't tried any others.

noughtnaut@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 285d (1 reply)

I'm using Sync (on android) and it's quite pleasant. No ads, does what it needs to.

Macallan@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 284d

Back in the day I would have agreed with you and recommended Sync, but it's been abandoned by the dev. No updates since March 2024. I'm using Voyager now and it is acceptable.

YeahIgotskills2@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 285d

When Reddit killed Boost (and indeed every other non-offical app) it was a sad day. Delighted to be able to use it again on Lemmy.
