RFK Jr. says he personally directed CDC's new guidance on vaccines and autism

NEW YORK (AP) — Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. personally directed the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to update its website to contradict its longtime guidance that vaccines don’t cause autism, he told The New York Times in an interview published Friday.

His comments provide clarity into who directed the CDC’s website change, after many current and former staffers at the agency were surprised to see new published guidance on Wednesday that defies scientific consensus. Kennedy, a longtime vaccine critic, has upended the public health agencies he oversees and pushed for and enacted changes that have unsettled much of the medical community, which sees his policies as harmful for Americans.

“The whole thing about ‘vaccines have been tested and there’s been this determination made,’ is just a lie,” Kennedy said in the interview, which was conducted Thursday.

The CDC’s “vaccine safety” page now claims that the statement “vaccines do not cause autism” is not based on evidence because it doesn’t rule out the possibility that infant vaccines are linked to the disorder. The page also has been updated to suggest that health officials have ignored studies showing a potential link.

It starts with the one at the top, who won't hire anyone smarter than he is because he's always wants to feel like he's the smartest person in the room. Really tells you something about all the MAGAts who voted for him because they think he's rich due to being so smart

I'm beginning to think that the USA is in real trouble

To reiterate, no shit!

It began when he came down the escalator.

If that guy could win a presidential election, the trouble began much earlier.

You know how things die slowly, then all at once?

IronBird@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 271d

it's definitely collapsing, been going on for awhile too.

ICE dissappearing people...saw that happen to some random kid on the streets of boston at the exact same time as the yuppies were doing their much publicized No Kings marches. (i imagine the powers that be in these cities are basically greenlighting ICE to go ham, long as they stay out of the richest neighborhoods).

because everyones just kind of coping on this idea that everything will return to normal (normal here being completely unsustainable ratfucking) when trump dies...personally i dont see it.

these motherfuckers said themselves they won't be removed peacefully.

and while i briefly entertained the idea of helping the good guys...tbh, to me it doesn't look like the US wants to be saved, and as anyone who has experience extending their help to strangers can tell you...you can't help someone who doesn't even think they have a problem.

Well, that it took you this long to figure that out seems an apt demonstration of why we're here.

EDIT: Geez - you guys can't tell when someone's going along with the joke, can you?

The CDC’s “vaccine safety” page now claims that the statement “vaccines do not cause autism” is not based on evidence because it doesn’t rule out the possibility that infant vaccines are linked to the disorder.

This dumbfuck doesn't understand that science can't fully rule anything out. That's why science continues to evolve, and things we once thought were true change over time as we get more evidence.

Science explains what we see in the world, it doesn't magically explain every possible outcome of every possible thing we look at.

No shit you can't "rule out the possibility", because you can't have an omnipotent view of every possible way every chemical reaction occurs ever between any infant and any vaccine.

What we can do, is look at how vaccines and autism rates are correlated, engage in numerous studies, and find out that there is no observable causal link between the two, or even a statistically significant correlation. That is the closest we can possibly get to "ruling it out."

You wanna know what there is an observable causal link for? Viruses killing people that would otherwise not have gotten sick from the virus had they gotten the vaccine.

Jfc we are so cooked as a nation.

Hoping American voters change this with next midterms. It’s up in o every American voter.

tal@lemmy.today · 4 pts · 271d (1 reply)

Unless he commits a crime, RFK serves as long as Trump is in office and wants him there.

Trump won't be removed in the midterms. He's in until 2028 (well, early 2029).

You might --- probably will --- get Democrats taking the House and being able to launch investigations into some Trump administration stuff after the midterms. But they can't remove RFK.

vaultdweller013@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 271d

Technically there are no legal ways to remove him. Plenty of ways he could be removed via illegal means, or through him being stupid wouldn't put it passed him eating roadkill and dieing of the black death.
