Free for existing Guild Wars owners

I have (or had) the first one. Does it mean GW1 or GW2? I'm not even sure it I have it on a digital library or if I had it physically, it's so old. 🤔

Just log into the Anet Account associated with the game.

Also, I still have my original games, in box.

Lol yeah I still have old adventure games on floppy and CD from like 95. Obviously don't have a floppy drive anymore nor an optical drive in over a decade.

I have my old cd and cd key but Steam won't recognize it. I gave up trying to figure it out and just coughed up the $20.

I think you might've been able to download the original

gw.exe

  1. Run GwSetup.exe to install...
  2. At the log-in screen, click the "Create Account or Add Access Key" link.

I might be wrong though.

Yep, this, it's the same client as the original but the update adds the reforged additions. I downloaded all of the files with the -image arg on my Windows rig and copied everything to my steam deck then added it as a non-steam game and the force proton compatibility option.
