I just pulled the trigger on a new set of kitchen appliances! Ordered from Costco, delivery next week. New refrigerator by Samsung (NOT Family Hub, just the 4-door flex with beverage center), a matching dishwasher, and a new convection double wall oven. I’m so excited!

Dude. Calm down. Read the room. 😉
Model #’s please. 😬marine_mustang@sh.itjust.works · 13 pts · 246d
I think getting excited about appliances is very characteristic of being dull. It’s a club for dull men, not a dull club for men.

Woof. Have fun with two out of three of those refusing to work for more than ten consecutive minutes. At least the GE wall oven ought to be functional.
The online hate for Samsung major appliances is very well deserved, I can tell you.

Not to rain on OP’s parade, but yeah, I’ve heard enough about Samsung appliances.

We shall see. My current Whirlpools are 15 years old and have their fair share of issues.
Refrigerator: randomly thinks the doors are open because the compressor is having to work too hard to maintain temperature which causes a beeping alarm that won’t stop, freezer drawer gets stuck sometimes, freezer light hasn’t worked in years, ice maker hasn’t worked in years, the “stainless steel” doors have a big section below the in-door water and ice dispenser that is rusted and flaking away (when the ice maker worked, it would often spit out a cube or two after the person walked away, which would sit in the little tray and melt, next person would open the door not noticing the water in the tray, causing the water to slosh onto the front, promoting rust).
Dishwasher: black kickplate has totally rusted away, rinse agent dispenser broke a long time ago and can’t be fixed, replaced control panel board once already and it needs it again (the lights to indicate which cycle it’s in or when it’s done don’t work).
Oven: 25 years old, exposed heating elements that burn drips, just basic (original with the house) and old.

I've heard this as well but never owned one partly for this reason.
I know it's just an opinion/matter of taste, but I love the style of some of the Samsung appliances... especially their fridges. I wish other companies would make something different aesthetically as opposed to the same old boring fridge style. I want something different like the Samsung aesthetic but that won't break on me.
My current dishwasher seems to be dying so I'm kind of wanting to get a new one soon. At least a dishwasher looks fine as a plain box. But man I wish I could have a more stylish fridge.
Oh and I've seen appliances with a really cool retro vibe but they unfortunately all seem to cost like ten billion dollars lol.

Dude, there is absolutely nothing dull (either way you look at it) about cool new appliances.
Congrats on the new equipment!! Those are some sleek looking models. What finish did you get for the fridge?

You had to kill someone to get that new kitchen, didn't you? /s

My only advice here is to get one of these before installing that dishwasher.

It will likely save you thousands if a leak should ever form in the many years you will likely own it. Don't ask me how I know 🥲

Condolences for picking Samsung.

Are you ever going to upgrade to an induction stove top or do you have one already?
marine_mustang@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 246d
It’s something I’d like to do.

He chose a Samsung fridge, so...

I had a similar fridge and loved it. It’s hard to see all the Samsung appliance hate online and not worry it’s going to need constant repairs, but I never had an issue.

What I really wanted was a totally dumb and simple top-freezer model without an icemaker, counter-depth, but it just doesn’t seem to exist. Top-freezer models are inherently more energy-efficient. Everyone else in the house likes ice, filtered water, etc, so that’s what I went with.

Excellent phones. But appliances, good luck homie.
Big_Boss_77@lemmynsfw.com · 4 pts · 246d
Did you go with the ice maker in the bottom of the freezer? The door only model struggles to keep up
marine_mustang@sh.itjust.works · 5 pts · 246d
It’s in the freezer.
Big_Boss_77@lemmynsfw.com · 4 pts · 246d
You'll appreciate that in the long run.

Never had Samsung appliance that I liked. 😬

Woooo wheee! What kind of things are you going to cook?
marine_mustang@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 246d
Lots of cookies, turkey, and Mac and cheese for the holidays.
tuckerm@feddit.online · 2 pts · 246d
Nice. I only know a couple people with a stacked double oven, but they seem to always have an assembly line of roast dinners and desserts going in and out of it.

I’m absolutely in love with the Beverage Center. I use the heck out of the pitcher.
We got a French door version with the drawer freezer. I’m a bit skeptical of the 4 door. Seems like the freezer would be awkward to access and organize but I’d be interested to hear how it goes in practice.

Our current refrigerator has a drawer freezer, and it causes problems. Ice cubes fall down to the bottom and prevent the drawer from closing all the way, the drawer sticks, and the light has long since stopped working.
