I also knock off car-first cities. A tram will not go full looney toons. And I expect that the professional drivers that are actually needed in a city will also not do it that often.
The tram will drive through the tunnel successfully after the car crashes into the wall, with roadrunner as the conductor sticking his tongue out as he passes
Few Years ago I read an article like " study finds you can get self driving cars to crash by throwing a human shaped pupped in front of them". I was like, yeah no shit that also works for humans.
They painted it at a T junction, you can see there's a road coming from the opposite direction, and at night, anybody who's not local could have fallen for that and just assumed it was normal crossroads.
There's also barely, if any, sidewalk in front of the painting, that could at least have alerted the driver.
It's pure luck that the guy wasn't driving fast, or there'd be dead bodies because of this stupid prank. This needs jail time, even if suspended.
It looks like a cartoon tunnel that no one should be fooled by unless they were severely distracted or impaired. The lack of signage should make it obvious.
Lotta party poopers in these comments. I'm with you. Many indicators this is a flat, painted picture if a driver is paying attention and going appropriate speeds.
Tesla's on "full" ""auto"" """pilot""" will plow right into what looks like a road. Mike or Mark Robber tested various self driving cars against a painted curtain with boxes behind it, Tesla's not only failed to stop, they would disengage auto-pilot a split second before colliding, so doesn't count as auto failure.
Tesla plows into emergency vehicles with lights flashing, it also tries to run into regular walls on occasion. It's hardly relevant to anything about driving skills.
All social media content was actually created in 2015. No new content was created since then. Most people don’t know this, but 100% of TikToks are just reposts from Vine.
You forgot to account for the % of content that actually is new content but you always swipe past it because you instantly realise it's made by some attention horny corpo. Also rip vine, i miss you.
There is yellow paint on the curb, meaning there is some parking regulation there and this is not a junction. But i can see that the mural makes it look like one
"How can you not see even if it's dark" idk dude wait until your 73 and trying to drive home at night while oncoming traffic has bright lights in your face I guess.
cause if they knew that the turn was coming and they knew the road well, how did they not notice that the tunnel had never been there, and why did they try to drive into it? whenever I'm driving in a place I know very well/I live in I basically just go on autopilot and drive to where I need to go.
if they were following directions they wouldn't think they know better than a computer software that is specifically designed to route and track roads using satellites by going forward.
"Turn right and then turn left"
I've had this exact instruction before and would easily lead to this situation. In these types of moments, odds are you are looking and the road and not the screen so rely on the audio commands.
its "I've never met someone you who is immune to making from mistakes."
now that I know that you don't like it I'm probably just gonna do it more
I know somebody's gonna be like "but Jesus said don't point out a splinter in somebody else's eye when you have a plank in yours" but I'm just teasing >_<

The people who knock self driving systems often forget how dumb a lot of drivers are.

Didn't self driving fall for this exact thing

People drive when they have to. If you've put in a double shift you're not going to be at your best.

I've seen tram drivers do incredibly stupid things. But yeah, they generally stick to the rails.

you know those conveyor belts they have at airports and shit? we should just design a city with a shitton of those instead of roads.
Chingzilla@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 253d
You should read "The Roads Must Roll" short story by Robert Heinein. He takes this idea to a whole nother level.

Asimov also had that in his books. The idea was kinda popular in sci-fi back in the 50s-60s.
Asimov also noted that if someone fell on another person on that ‘road’ and it caused a domino effect, that would suck big time.

it also features lightly in jasper fforde's shades of grey series. those roads are carnivorous
