As much as I give Anthropic flak, at least they did something to make a stand against use of their tech that was too bad. Meanwhile, OpenAI, the company that says their "mission is to ensure that artificial general intelligence benefits all of humanity" gladly tells the U.S. military "do whatever the fuck you want with our models as long as we get paid."

That's the bonkers thing to me. At least someone at Anthropic had the wherewithal to say "wait...are be building a thing to spy on ourselves at home 24/7?" OpenAI was so thirsty. "Spy on me, Daddy! Watch my every move, let me show you how!"

I doubt that Anthropic actually cares, they just dont want the bad PR. If the feds had asked quietly in a way that doesnt leave public traces, im sure they probably would have complied.

Yikes. Basically any company that does business with the government can’t use Anthropic. That’s a very big problem that will likely go to court.
