If they don't want to be eaten then why do they keep telling people to gobble gobble them up

usernamesAreTricky@lemmy.ml · 18 pts · 155d (4 replies)

Seems a little difficult to eat an entire country, idk

If turkeys didn't want to be eaten why are they so delicious?

Checkmate, Peta.

If dogs didn't want to be eaten, why is Elwood's Organic Dog Meat so delicious? /s

MeatPilot@sh.itjust.works · 13 pts · 155d

I was on board until I read

"Chickens are intelligent and sensitive to the welfare of their peers."

Chickens are assholes to everything. That doesn't mean they need to boxed up in tiny crates and killed. But I'll still say they are mean little fuckers with small brains.

PhoenixDog@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 155d

I love that so much! I'm actually laughing I've never seen that before! I fucking love it! I'm a meat eater who raises and eats his own meat and strives to give my animals the best life they can until they have"one bad day". But I absolutely adore the satirical irony of that site.

Samskara@sh.itjust.works · 1 pts · 155d

I have eaten dog meat before. It’s kind of gamey. Not particularly great, but not bad either.

I don't want to be eaten either but I won't care when I'm dead.

usernamesAreTricky@lemmy.ml · 23 pts · 155d

Myth: Turkeys are killed by the industry for that purpose

Truth: Turkeys just mystersouly show up dead after falling into the big killing machine that the industry had nothing to do with

Neither does grass that is why cut grass smells like that. It is a chemical compound to notify birds and other insect eating animals that there is free dinner.

usernamesAreTricky@lemmy.ml · 11 pts · 155d

Yet when I make that argument to the court, they say "what" and call me a "cannibal". Smh /s

PhoenixDog@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 155d (4 replies)

I love how someone downvoted you for this comment, not understanding reality that it's been scientifically proven that it's a distress call.

rainbowbunny@slrpnk.net · 6 pts · 155d (3 replies)

Grass is not conscious.

PhoenixDog@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 155d

Consciousness doesn't mean it doesn't have defencive measures.

Carnivorous plants don't have consciousness, but they still know when and how to eat bugs that land on them.

HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world · 0 pts · 154d

You can't smell it scream? It is one of my favorite smells

Why does Hungary, the hungriest of countries, not simply eat Turkey?

MrChewy@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 155d

They're joint in their anger against trianon/sevre treaties, shared trauma bonding moments led from one thing to another and now John Hungary doesn't want to eat turkey, as counterintuitive as it is

SatansMaggotyCumFart@piefed.world · 4 pts · 155d (4 replies)

Being eaten by a superior creature is part of a turkey's lifecycle and who are we to deny them that honor?

qaeta@lemmy.ca · 3 pts · 155d (3 replies)

PETA wants to shame the turkey's entire bloodline by causing them to dishonourably die of old age. Why does PETA hate turkeys?

HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 154d (1 reply)

Why won't let the turkeys die with honor? Shol'vah!

qaeta@lemmy.ca · 2 pts · 154d

Wait! I know this one!

um... Shel kek nem ron!

SatansMaggotyCumFart@piefed.world · 1 pts · 155d

PETA hates all animals that’s why they want people to eat what they eat and starve them.

Cintari@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 155d (1 reply)

Reminds me of the second Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy book, The Restaurant at the End of the Universe. They specifically engineered an animal capable of speech that could tell you directly that it wanted to be eaten.

usernamesAreTricky@lemmy.ml · 1 pts · 154d

https://youtu.be/bAF35dekiAY?t=74 for this being acted out

Kolanaki@pawb.social · 1 pts · 155d (1 reply)

Have you spoken to all turkeys?

usernamesAreTricky@lemmy.ml · 1 pts · 155d

I don't imagine they were talking about being eaten out by other turkeys, but I can't really say for certain

Spacenut@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 154d (2 replies)

For real I don't really understand all the hate PETA gets. I think the most you can accuse them of is not being strategic in their messaging, and doing some pretty dumb stunts over the years. Everyone I've ever met who's involved with PETA has seemed like genuinely a good person who's trying to help animals.

Of course there's also the "PETA kills pets" stuff, but if you do one google search you'll see this is astroturfed lies/exaggerations from the meat industry, so I don't pay that any mind.

HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 154d

The only people I've met involved with peta have been 3rd party contractors paid to gather signatures, who have either been polite or obnoxious or whatever, you know your normal signature gathering dudes have good and bad days like the rest of us.

I've never met anyone who was not employed by the organization in a "oh fuck I need money" position, and I have hobbed the nobs for charity. I'm not sure what to make of that.

Strider@lemmy.world · -1 pts · 153d

Seriously, an organization that does this?

https://games.peta.org/cookingmama/

Wtf man. I understand protecting animals and going vegan. But stuff like that is just over the top and revolting. And I don't even care much about cooking mama, which is / was a game ffs.

mathemachristian@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 1 pts · 155d

finallymadeanaccount@lemmy.world · -1 pts · 155d (2 replies)

Members of PETA casn't just say this sort of thing without offering some kind of alternative. Until they start selling chunks of themselves as replacement meat, I'm just not gonna take them seriously!

explodicle@sh.itjust.works · 5 pts · 155d

Fair enough, I've signed you up for some vegan recipe mailing lists.
