...
I feel dumb that it took me so long to comprehend it, but, just in case there's anyone else struggling:

This Mac user is running Linux in a virtual machine within a Windows virtual machine ._.

And something inside me seems to be screaming.

The sound feels as though it's emanating from roughly where I used to think my soul would have been.

I genuinely thought for a second it was some heretofore unknown to me Linux build that evoked that horrible windows UI

It would have been funnier if it was Asahi instead of Ubuntu.

Bullerfar@lemmy.world · 16 pts · 152d (1 reply)

Or Hanna Montana

Evil_Shrubbery@thelemmy.club · 10 pts · 152d

No, then they would have noticed a performance boost.

What OS do you use?

Yes.

OpenStars@piefed.social · 25 pts · 152d (4 replies)

"All"

Um... did you mean "each"?

I said what I said.

tal@lemmy.today · 14 pts · 152d (1 reply)

You mean you multi-boot, run one at a time?

No.

I don't see Hannah Montana Linux anywhere.

OpenStars@piefed.social · 3 pts · 148d

Ah, that must mean that it is minimized:-)

Kraiden@piefed.social · 54 pts · 152d

You were so preoccupied with whether or not you could, that you didn't stop to think if you should.gif

unknowablenight@piefed.social · 22 pts · 152d

Open up a VM and run Red Star OS, that should be a lot faster than Ubuntu

I’m running BSD on my macbook. It’s solid AF.

Crozekiel@lemmy.zip · 30 pts · 152d (2 replies)

Glad to hear it didn't turn your macbook soft or even, god forbid, liquid.

fartsparkles@lemmy.world · 29 pts · 152d (1 reply)

KDE turned my MacBook plasma!

hellfire103@lemmy.ca · 6 pts · 152d

KDE Liquid is also a thing.

Since the XNU kernel is part Mach, part OSFMK, and part FreeBSD, all NeXT machines and all Macs made since the 2000s run BSD.

tristan@tarte.nuage-libre.fr · 8 pts · 152d

Yeah, I think that’s what OP is alluding to. I don’t think pure BSDs like Free or Open have much driver support for Apple hardware. It’s already enough of a problem with Linux support.

thethunderwolf@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 2 pts · 144d

I sometimes call it NonfreeBSD

BuboScandiacus@mander.xyz · 6 pts · 152d (1 reply)

So you run MacOS?

homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 151d

Yes

YeahToast@aussie.zone · 14 pts · 152d (1 reply)

I don't think it counts as ragebait on the Linux memes community

I’m running Arch Linux on my MacBook Pro 2014, and it’s so snappy with SwayWM, I don’t see any need for any newer hardware.

Retro_unlimited@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 151d

My late intel MacBook has:

MacOS - Windows 10 - Linux

It’s RARE I use win/Mac but it’s great for that once every few months that I need to run some specific tool.

Try running on bare metal.
