I dug mine out of the various cables box a few days ago so I could set up a little mini network to practice networking without disrupting anything. Turns out it's still getting firmware updates with dd-wrt, not sure if it's truly still supported, but still.

You're forgetting those MikroHick routers from Bumfuck, Alabama. They route all packages to "go back to their own country".

Previously purchased routers can still be used and retailers can still sell models that were approved by the prior FCC policies.

so it seems not much is changed? I'm curious what this means practically in the near term.
