It is entirely possible for a stable wormhole to open up in front of you as you are driving to work and you won't even necessarily see it until it's too late and the hole closes. But the odds of it taking you somewhere you can survive are just as improbable as the wormhole opening in the first place.
Sometimes I like to think that people who have vanished without a trace stepped through a wormhole like this and are just corpses floating in the void of space now.

If someone went through all the trouble of making a portal it's gotta go somewhere worth it

For them, not necessarily for you.

"Well, obviously, you don't have kids," was legitimately my first reaction.

No you toss a kid in first to test

Now you're thinking with portals.

If it's a random portal, chances are very high it's just dumping you somewhere in the vacuum of space.

I never considered this possibility in my life, but after reading this post I realize I should also step into it

Knowing my luck I'd end up in the Torment Nexus dimension. Think I'll pass.

"A portal to the blender dimension? That's the oldest trick in the book!"

Not if it looked private or something, I would try to ask first.
Then again it's hard to resist if it smells like sweet sulphur or if you can see any dangling tentacle-like bits poking out of it.

Wormholes that transfer information faster than light are currently thought to be impossible. So saying it's possible at all is a bit of a stretch.

yeah but you would come back to find out what happened on game of thrones.

So sad that they cancelled that show early. Season 6 was the final season abd there were never any more!
HubertManne@piefed.social · 1 pts · 146d
this was actually a call back to "the guild" web series.

That wall over there is a portal.

It doesn't do anything if you're not in the caster's party. :/
