Ah, but see, this is a christofascist holy crusade, not a globalist war.

explodicle@sh.itjust.works · 18 pts · 144d (4 replies)

Globalist is just dog whistle for "Jewish conspiracy".

Captain_Buddha@lemmy.world · 23 pts · 144d

The irony of this particular war is that it IS one perpetuated by a Jewish ethnostate (Isreal).

This time-line suuuuucks!

Iusedtobeanalien@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 144d

Yes but the "wrong kind of Jew"

No one benefits more from globalism than America

Coke is it

MasterCard, that'll do nicely sir

Let's take the oil

HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 144d (1 reply)

I wish it wasn't. As a lapsed economist being able to talk globalization would be nice without the uh assumptions

explodicle@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 144d

I doubt anybody will get the wrong idea. Economists talk about globalization but don't condemn it as a bad thing that bad people promote. "Globalist" sounds like "evolutionist".

SeeMarkFly@lemmy.ml · 4 pts · 144d (3 replies)

Exactly, this "war" does not have any borders. This "enemy" cannot be contained. They are living all over the globe. Bombing Iran is just making them mad at US.

There is no way to win this war that Trump has started WITHOUT permission from MY government representatives. We need to hold him accountable for THIS.

Iusedtobeanalien@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 144d

The problem is the American people decided to give the Greedy Old Pedophiles a majority in every branch of government so you have to live with an idiot trying to wing a war and lying about everything to the American people

The winners out of this will be Iran, Russia and China

davidagain@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 144d (1 reply)

If you wanted Trump held responsible, you needed to stop him from becoming president. It's way too late now. Anyways, the supreme court that he stuffed declared him exempt from prosecution for official acts as president. Good luck with the responsibility hope you had. Accountability died forever on election day. He'll die free of consequences.

Ah see, you made the mistake of believing any word out of JDs mouth.

Vance is an empty husk of craven ambition who will say anything to feel more important.

Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world · 20 pts · 144d

Remember when he campaigned as a "never trump guy"?

SeeMarkFly@lemmy.ml · 13 pts · 144d

At this point he's just kind of a flabby, oily collection of grudges held together by stringy resentments.

BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today · 9 pts · 144d

He will say whatever Peter Theil orders him to say.

InvalidName2@lemmy.zip · 38 pts · 144d (2 replies)

I love that post going around (and I'm paraphrasing this): They told me a vote for Kamala was a vote for unnecessary war. Well, they were right. I voted for Kamala and now we're at war.

Mainly it's just so aggravating that streets in my area were lined with "Trump low prices, Kamala high prices" and "Trump no wars, Kamala new wars" signs, and predictably, here we are. Lies, lies, lies. Just like the first term, but an order of magnitude worse because there were no repercussions for any of it. In fact, the more he lies, the more popular he becomes.

fallaciousBasis@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 144d (1 reply)

Trump has an unprecedented disapproval rating.

He's single-handedly killing the GOP. Republicans are resigning also at unprecedented rates.

Lowkey... Gj donny. Triple tap that elephant ass.

Killer_Tree@sh.itjust.works · 6 pts · 143d

I would be more optimistic about that, but after Afghanistan, Iraq, Hurricane Katrina, and many other incidents, the EXACT same thing was being said about Bush killing the party... And yet here we are.

KnitWit@lemmy.world · 32 pts · 144d (9 replies)

Anybody that claimed that Trump would be a peace president was very clearly lying, and I don’t believe anyone who claims to have believed that he would have been. He didn’t fool anyone, he just gave them a flippant and obviously false reason to not vote for Harris.

TheReanuKeeves@lemmy.world · 19 pts · 144d

You underestimate the stupidity of some people lol

gibmiser@lemmy.world · 10 pts · 144d

You underestimate people's willingness... (desperation?) To be lied to. They wanted to believe it because he said everything they already believed and wanted to hear.

darkdemize@sh.itjust.works · 8 pts · 144d

No, he's a piece president, specifically a piece of shit.

FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world · 0 pts · 144d (5 replies)

Anybody that claimed that Trump would be a peace president was very clearly lying

That is actually factually untrue.

War and his reticence to be involved in them was one of the best things about his presidency (of which there were few, of course), and he actually disentangled us from Afghanistan and Syria. (Though it fell to Joe Biden to do the actual withdrawal, it was Donald who negotiated the redeployments.) Democrats, on the other hand, opposed both of these redeployments.

There was every reason to believe he would keep us out of foreign wars, because of his actual record as president, until he needed a big distraction from being publicly tagged as a pedophile.

rimu@piefed.social · 6 pts · 144d (1 reply)

Except, you know, his track record of lying his ass off.

FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world · -3 pts · 144d

He didn't lie about war, not before a month ago.

His record was disentangling us from foreign wars. This meme ignores a ton of historical context.

Now I just wish we could get Democrats to give a crap about war at any point when it isn't a matter of political convenience.

davidagain@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 144d (2 replies)

How can you not see that it was a line? Trump doesn't have principles, he never has had any and never has had any. What he has is the ability to sell people his promises to give them what they want. But trumps promises and assertions are no more meaningful than the sound of the wind and his "best things" are all as hollow as the call of the srens luring the sailors to their deaths.

FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 144d (1 reply)

Please re-read what I wrote. Thank you.

davidagain@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 144d

It was standard fake-leftist trump-lie-repeating counterfactual shit. No thank you. You're still sticking to the braindead genocide joe line of reasoning even now. There is no hope for the return of rationaility. I'm speaking to someone who actually believed in trump!

"If you want your kid to go die in a woke war, vote for Biden! Trump will send your kid to die in an epic war!"

Duamerthrax@lemmy.world · 12 pts · 144d (1 reply)

Imagine if we put the same efforts to helping Ukraine as we are bombing Iranian schools? Can't have that though. We seem to be allergic to actually having a just war.

electric_nan@lemmy.ml · 8 pts · 144d

The US is never going to join a military effort out of a sense of justice. It's not an accident that they kind of string Ukraine along. They want Russia entangled there for as long as possible.

VeryInterestingTable@jlai.lu · 3 pts · 144d

Hence why election should be about the candidate's program and never about dissing on the opposing candidates it's so backwards that it's even allowed to build your campain on talking about your opposition.

FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world · -19 pts · 144d (15 replies)

Yup, reminds me of the time when Joe Biden promised me he'd vacate my student loans, or when Barack Obama insisted he would codify Roe into law.

They're all liars and pieces of refuse.

k_rol@lemmy.ca · 13 pts · 144d (6 replies)

For people to read up on the student loans. Feel free to add your sources too.

As for codify Roe into law, he didn't and that sucks but it's certainly not his fault that Roe v Wade has been removed. I won't pretend I understand US laws that much in this case but I think it would have required a lot of approval that he may not have been able to get either.

Catoblepas@piefed.blahaj.zone · -1 pts · 144d (5 replies)

The first article you linked is literally about how the student loan forgiveness plan failed. They were going for 40 million and got forgiveness for 8 million, or 1/5th what they said they were going to do. There were also restrictions on who was eligible that screwed a lot of people out of loan forgiveness.

If I showed up to my job and did 1/5th of what I was hired to do I’d get fired.

davidagain@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 144d (4 replies)

Preferably if the obnoxious wanker in the next door cell blocked and obstructed your attempts at every turn, he would get fired instead, or your boss is a shit boss who has no idea whatsoever what's going on at your firm, and he should be fired as well as the obnoxious wanker.

Catoblepas@piefed.blahaj.zone · -1 pts · 144d (3 replies)

If it was news to anyone involved that Republicans were going to try to kneecap them at every turn then they’re too naive to be in politics. Instead they promise shit over and over they know they can’t fulfill and wonder why the next big thing they’re promising (but can’t remotely follow through on) isn’t drawing in more votes.

davidagain@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 144d (2 replies)

Ah, you're so right. They should have campaigned on a platform of "Republicans will block our every move. There's no point pretending we can achieve anything in government unless we win both houses. Stay home and keep your expectations low."

HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 144d

It might be catoblepas's first decade paying attention to the cycle which is why they're so disheartened by and bitter about it. Like Iraq war 2 desert boogaloo threw me for a loop, it was my wakeup. It takes some time to get from there to "okay let's do shit about it" and we process at our own speeds

Mulligrubs@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 144d

They had both houses. Still couldn't pass higher minimum wage.

They spent a whole day on it! Maybe two.

Did they pass, perhaps, a lower minimum wage than desired, but still an increase?

Nah, why bother.

(classic Democratic worthlessness; our other choice is Republican incompetence)

But_my_mom_says_im_cool@lemmy.world · 10 pts · 144d (7 replies)

My god you Americans are dumb and easy to play. Trump, one of the dumbest men ever, played you, and continues to play you. Here you are shitting on past democrats instead of growing some balls and doing something about trump.

The path of fascism is littered with the opposition fighting each other and calling each other fake.

You’re playing right into their game

AdolfSchmitler@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 144d (1 reply)

What should he do? Go to the white house and make a citizens arrest on trump? Lol. Don't pretend trump is the problem, he's a symptom. Completely valid bringing up when dems promised but didn't deliver, specifically on roe v wade. Thinking dems will save us will only bring disappointment.

davidagain@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 144d

Bet you were saying this about Gaza before Trump started another war.

HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 144d

Yes. It's the folk on here who voted for agent Krasnov.

Do you feel better now you've gotten your whinge off your chest?

Mulligrubs@lemmy.world · -3 pts · 144d (2 replies)

Why does your country pay fealty to those American dummies?

You buy their weapons. You take loans from their banks. You use their dollar.

Why you do this

But_my_mom_says_im_cool@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 144d (1 reply)

I'm indigenous, we were forced to live under colonial rule. I don't apply for their white loans or use their dollars, and I wish their entire country nothing but destruction

Mulligrubs@lemmy.world · -3 pts · 142d

I'm indigenous too, but wishing won't fight the forcing, friend.

Wishing= doing absolutely nothing
