I don't know what the fuck is wrong with me, but I initially read your comment as one of your neighbors set his entire flock afire, in the dark and overgrown forest.
We have wandering peacocks here, they can "fly" up onto a roof, about like chickens, but have never seen them flying around to get anywhere. They walk everywhere.
yea they have been released or escaped apparently drug dealers use them as alert animals, because they make noise asap when people trepass on a property.
Their flight is pretty cool too. I saw a doco on India or the birds themselves years ago. They struggle to get airborne a bit but they glide once they’re up.
I've seen them around, and they don't really fly. Their wings are more of an assist device that helps them hop up into lower branches. The wings help elevate their hop a bit, but that's about it. I don't think you'll see them flying across the sky.
Huh in West Edmonton mall back in the 80s they had an enclosure in the middle of a walkway of them. I used to love looking they are so pretty. Wonder if it was too small for flight or clipped wings now. Sort of wondered why they didn't fly out back then now that I think of it so probably just assumed they didn't fly at the time too long ago to remember. I was sad when they disappeared, I only got to that mall once maybe twice a year so wasn't often and mostly school clothes shopping since we didn't live there.

I've seen them jump real high and use their wings to help (like chickens do) but never fly, pretty cool.

Hum, maybe they ended up there jumping from branch to branch then. I haven't seen them really fly either, they were staying in place.

From what I've seen a lot of bigger birds will just walk, run, and climb if its an option. Flying is probably a hassle when you aren't a little bird.
