This is me any time I'm going somewhere. If I have to get on a plane at 1PM, I'm arriving in the airport at 9AM at the latest. Otherwise, I just feel increasingly anxious the longer I wait. I'd rather spend three and a half hours sitting in a terminal than be stressing out about whether I'm going to make it in time.

Agrivar@lemmy.world · 14 pts · 122d

Ditto! All it takes is one trip where unforseen complications cause you to miss a flight!

negativenull@piefed.world · 13 pts · 122d

I could have written exactly this comment

applebusch@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 7 pts · 121d

This is me. Last time I was so early there was another flight, going to the same place I was, getting ready to board. On a whim I asked if I could switch to that one since I was there already, and managed to get a seat. I was home before my original flight even took off lol.

village604@adultswim.fan · 4 pts · 121d

I did this once at a regional airport, and the employees weren't even there yet.

wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz · 4 pts · 121d

I could be at the terminal three hours early, and I'll still feel nervous and anxious until I'm on the plane...

Overkrill@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 36 pts · 122d (3 replies)

me except I'm late

Agent641@lemmy.world · 12 pts · 121d

Sorry I'm late, I got distracted by worrying about what if I'm late.

ExtremeUnicorn@feddit.org · 11 pts · 122d

Totally, I related to all but the last panel.

SubArcticTundra@lemmy.ml · 4 pts · 122d

Life hack: forbid yourself from checking the time on the way there. That way you won't be able to keep checking to make sure you'll be there on time (and hurrying as a consequence), and it'll force you to set off long enough in advance.

So did Extra Fabulous start the disconnected other eye style?

usualsuspect191@lemmy.ca · 8 pts · 122d

Exactly my first thought. Plus it's especially weird on a bird where the eyes are on either side of the head normally

cows_are_underrated@feddit.org · 12 pts · 121d (1 reply)

I have the same problem, especially if I'm riding a bus/train. I need almost exactly 15 minutes to the train station. This means, that I should leave my apartment 20 minutes before departure, which means, that I will leave 25-30 minutes before departure, because I'm stressing out, that I might miss the train. This of course means, that I will be there way to early and promise myself, that I will leave a few minutes later next time, just to repeat the exact same mistake.

This is why I try and get all my medical appointments in the morning. Less time my body forces me into 'wait mode'

whaleross@lemmy.world · 11 pts · 121d

Pro tip: If you are invited home to someone - do not, repeat not, be one hour early.

gerryflap@feddit.nl · 9 pts · 121d

This, but with an extra step where I start preparing 5 minutes too late, can't find shit, and then end up having to hurry so I arrive sweaty ans barely on time or too late

Mac@mander.xyz · 8 pts · 122d

Portable gaming is perfect for this.
You fully prepare and even travel to the thing and then you can set an alarm and play games while in limbo until the start time.

I did this with my Steam Deck last week (or was it two weeks ago...).

Tortellinius@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 121d

I thought this was an ADHD meme, but someone like me would've still been late in the last panel.

ptz@dubvee.org · 5 pts · 122d (1 reply)

That's basically what goes through my head when someone compliments me on my punctuality.

negativenull@piefed.world · 14 pts · 122d

My punctuality is always preceded by me getting there way early, and waiting in my car.

Buddahriffic@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 121d

Oh, look, I have extra time before I need to get moving. How much extra time? I dunno, probably infinite.

If pigeon had a job to keep him occupied & stressed-out all day he could approach the evening plans like a normal person pigeon.

lugal@sopuli.xyz · 2 pts · 121d (2 replies)

As a normal pigeon myself I can assure you that most pigeons do not have a job

JennaR8r@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 2 pts · 120d (1 reply)

I'm gonna go stalk through your profile to find out if you're really a pigeon or not. BRB...

lugal@sopuli.xyz · 1 pts · 120d

On the internet, nobody knows you're a pigeon (except for you because I told you)

Me - "Fuck it I'm gonna be late for work today"

Also me - Shows up a half hour early anyway

osanna@lemmy.vg · 3 pts · 122d

waiting mode, amirite

Drusas@fedia.io · 3 pts · 121d (3 replies)

I've read that this is common among people with ADHD, but I very much do not have ADHD and I very much struggle with this.

AlecSadler@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 3 pts · 121d (2 replies)

As someone with ADHD the first two frames...maybe, if you're the type to hyperfixate in that.

The latter two...I have never been early to anything ever.

Ashen44@lemmy.ca · 7 pts · 121d

As someone with ADHD, the whole comic is me exactly. I'm never late to anything ever because I literally can't think of anything except the event until it happens, and I'm also super stressed about missing things so I always leave early.

mech@feddit.org · 5 pts · 121d

It's common with people who have both ADHD and autism.

Now she has to wait a whole hour to poop on the CEO's car.

Sam_Bass@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 121d (2 replies)

I used to try and be at my job site that early just to have a little peace before the storm.

tamal3@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 121d (1 reply)

I take my peace at home... and then end up being late.

Sam_Bass@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 121d

You do you, then. If your boss is ok with you being late regularly, it'd be a job to keep. Mine had a 3 strikes your out system
