Giant Drake ice sculpture in downtown Toronto is getting hosed down because fans were lighting fires to melt it.

The ice is a publicity stunt to promote the release of his next album.

For a glorious moment, I forgot about the man and thought Toronto had a giant dragon-like ice sculpture… damn reality ruins everything

To make up for our disappointment

I know it's the keyhole on a chest in that first photo, but damned if it doesn't look like a dragons penis graffiti.

Dangerous Drake's Daring Cage

Ha. Me too! It wasn't until I saw the bit about "his new album" that I realized something was wrong. But it took a while. I first assumed that there was a typo that cut out the artist's name.

Same, but my second thought was Tim Drake. Third times the charm for me though

Why would fans of his try to melt it?

Edit: I guess it helps to read the article. The sculpture contained the release date of the album in a folder. There's no way the people who coordinated this stunt expected people to just wait until the sculpture melted.

What a stupid stunt. Every headline sounds like they are doing it because he's a pedo.

Well maybe they are and the news are just trying to pretend otherwise.

A giant slab of ice is a sculpture now?

Quilotoa@lemmy.ca · 8 pts · 136d (1 reply)

The designer called it a scuplture. Who am I to judge what art is?

CapuccinoCoretto@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 136d

You are you! You can and must judge. For yourself, naturally.

A urinal has been a sculpture for a couple decades now

Alcoholicorn@mander.xyz · 12 pts · 136d (1 reply)

It wasn't even a statue of Drake, just a rectangle of ice blocks?

IRL engagement bait. My brain hurts trying to decipher my hatred for this kind of thing.

lolwat

The intention was to make a statement.

And that statement was what, exactly?

We wanted the fans to be able to enjoy it for as long as possible.

Next up: watch paint dry.
