The US fought, and apparently won, an entire war, to get out from under the heel of the boot which they insist on continuing to measure things against.
length of the path travelled by light in vacuum during a time interval of 1/299792458 of a second will always be superior to some stinky foot. Or an inch. Or a football field (Hand-egg one?)

In a row?

In a row and spaced exactly 1H diameter from each other. If they dont touch, it isn't gay.

It's rare that one of these makes the American side more appealing. You're shooting yourself in the...well, you know.
Mok98@feddit.it · 16 pts · 119d
Why the hell would I shoot myself in the meter?
daggermoon@piefed.world · 6 pts · 119d
Literally the one time i'm not ashamed to be an American. I'm actually really sad about it.
Godric@lemmy.world · 23 pts · 118d
American here, meters are tools for measuring things! Voltmeter measure volts, speedometers measure speed, etc.
Makes me nervous when I'm walking around, because every step I take my phone's pedometer detects another one :'(
tarn_rep@fedinsfw.app · 1 pts · 100d
Just get a metermeter for lengths!
nutbutter@discuss.tchncs.de · 22 pts · 119d
I am not an American, but I want to get measured.

Are paws okay? 🐾
Holytimes@sh.itjust.works · 3 pts · 118d
Only puppy paws. No cats allowed. Damn claws keep ruining the furniture.

Two left feet, wonder what kinda measuring system that is.
jaybone@lemmy.zip · 3 pts · 118d
The foot on the fact is a right foot though?
kryptonianCodeMonkey@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 118d
Those are definitely not two left feet. That is a left and a right foot.
SubArcticTundra@lemmy.ml · 3 pts · 119d
False, Europeans measure in metres

1 metre = 10 decimetres = 100 centimetres = 0,001 kilometres. Not sure how you calculate but this could be the point
Flower@sh.itjust.works · 1 pts · 118d
You can use yard. It's 0.914 meter so close enough. If they ask how many feet and inch that is, that's an imperial problem.
wer2@lemmy.zip · 1 pts · 118d
But why not 1/300000000 of a second?
deadymouse@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 118d
5714@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 1 pts · 117d
IIRC, the meter stems from a fraction of an Earth's length, so you know what to do
