Then those companies can leave Brazil. What happened to free market?

In general, the U.S. govt will impose higher tariffs on your products. Or cut off funding for infrastructure or humanitarian projects.

Help! We can't extract wealth from Brazil! It's unfair!

Well that doesn't sound very "free market"...

that's what US imperialism looks like most of the time, under threat of bombs and sanctions.

not a trump thing at all either. it's an US thing.

if it helps, the US is imperialistic towards its own citizens

PIX is awesome. Fuck credit card fees.

BehavioralClam@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 85d (1 reply)

I mean it's basically QR direct transfers in banking apps. Most countries do it.

Peruvian_Skies@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 85d

It's still awesome even (or especially) if everyone does it. Visa, Mastercard and the like are obsolete social parasites thanks to these services.

Also, you don't even need a QR code for PIX. Just knowing the person's phone number or CPF is enough.

YOU ARENT PAYING US FOR THR PRIVILEGE OF US ROBBING YPU BLIND, ITS UNFAIR, UNFAIR

marcos@lemmy.world · 11 pts · 86d

Lol! Not even the English-speaking media is caring to pretend the US has any reason to look.

They even got into the trap of asking a Brazilian what he thinks of the "fraud risk" thing English-speakers talk so much about...

A better question is why the US can't figure out this kind of payment system. Isn't Trump supposed to be the crypto President?

Tar_alcaran@sh.itjust.works · 10 pts · 86d

It's very hard to figure out a solution when you directly profit from workarounds

tacoplease@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 85d

Ah, I see why there's confusion... He's the criminal president and should be in a crypt ...

Treczoks@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 85d

Wait until Europe does the same...
