And there's resistance bands, which if combined with a door anchor can replace weights for a fraction of the space and cost. A doorframe pull up bar would be the last piece of kit a home gym would really need when combined with the bands and calisthenics.
It's not even a widespread societal expectation. It's something this sexist troll pulled out of his ass because he was mad someone suggested doing yoga as exercise at home. Which he thinks is "women's privilege" whatever the fuck that means.
They're trying to imply or insinuate that men can't do yoga, and saying that suggesting people do yoga is "women's privilege" or some bullshit like that. I'm certain DragonTypeWyvern is a troll with nothing better to do than start trouble.
I don't know how you can think this isn't sexist garbage, but just the phrase "women's privilege" is a red flag on it's own. The implication that only women do yoga is insanely dumb and wrong.
This whole comment and every reply below it was insanely hostile and unnecessary.
Bruh it's $12 a month for planet fitness and it's all aunties and uncs up in there.
1.5 miles in 15 minutes on the treadmill then the yellow room 30 minute circuit trainer with the lights.. 15 minutes stretching in the isometrics room and we on our way.
Everyday, or at least five days in a week. Treat things like yoga biking and sports as "in addition to"
It was $15 per week at my local gym. Tbf a new gym has opened nearby since my last membership so it may be cheaper. But at $360 per year over a few years you can just start buying your own stuff.
All you need to be healthy is a bit of moderate exercise. It doesn't matter what it is, so it's best to pick activities you enjoy. Dancing, paintball, bouldering, hiking, whatever.
Oh yeah, I've ate almost everyday since I was in the womb. Now, I eat at least 2000 calories every. single. day. A fascists balls would vaporize when I lick them.
This is an individualist approach, a productivist one and a validist one.
I see you point : people shall prepare
But the next question is : to do what ?
If you want to prepare to run: run
if you want to prepare to climb : climb
if you want to prepare to fight : fight
This not an RPG, muscles could act counter-productively (it's weight more, and need more calories).
But most importantly, prepare to do it collectively. Some of us have the health and condition to prepare to do some of this, and may need to be recall that they have a responsibility to do so, because some of us don't.
Futhermore in most situations it's better to be 3 people not well prepared than one fit. So take care of you community and make it grow
this reads like it was copy pasted from a translation app. What is a validist, productivist, individualist approach? its such a bizarre critique of a meme.
Is more an injonction than a meme ; it implies that we should "go to gym" to oppose to fascists. So it suppose that strong and athletics body are more valid for antifascism than the others.
Gym, exercise and workout are more linked with work than with games : we try to improve our performances, making stats, having regularity and so on. According to Johan Huizinga in "Homo Ludens", sports is the opposite of game, and is how the modern era twist games to match desires of productive bodies.
I'm not saying that sports, gym, workout, box, running are bad; if people enjoy it, it's enough. However I think the the injonction is counter-productive. For every situation we may wish to have a shaped body they is a collective answer that more people participate : so it's more inclusive and create more social link
now imagine Proudhon in gym just because a fascist went to gym today
your conception of a body shouldn't be a reaction to another perceived (or imagined) body. If you're going to discipline your body, (if your body is going to discipline you) that should come from love and not because you hate fascism
i know that "discipline" is not a friendly word for most, but that's what it takes to stay fit for years and decades to come.
I'm losing weight so it's less stress on my taxed joints to exercise well. Using an under the desk elliptical for some light exercise. I will then go to the range to train more.
Im not going to the fucking gym, sibling, not until there's a community lead free anarchist gym near me.
I train at home with cheap equipment. And I train for functional strength instead of appearances ; unlike the fascists I dont give a fuck how strong I look, actually I'd rather look weak to keep them overconfident.
I prefer to just go for hikes outside. You get good exercise and fresh air. I do have an elliptical at home though which I use when the weather isn't good enough to go hiking.
No. I injured myself doing BMX(ish) style street riding. Nothing too bad, but I will be off the bike and doing leg-only exercises for a week or two. I was also in a no riding zone, during graduation on a fairly capitalistic college campus, but hey, biking's not a crime (and even if it was, legality != morality)!

No, gyms are capitalism honeypots for fitbros
I work out at home with body weight and everyday heavy objects.
Also yoga.

a decently kitted home gym is surprisingly attainable if you can spare the space!

I use resistance bands as well. I'm not sure they'd be a replacement for my rack and all that but it's a great place to start

Like others already said, a gymnasium is for privileged assholes. A fascist gets paid to exercise.
What this Post should be instead is a guide on how to exercise at home, with your bloc.
Also, find ways to empower comrades to get fit, rest, and act.
