Did… did he eat a bunch of the other ones to steal their power?

SeductiveTortoise@piefed.social · 5 pts · 83d (2 replies)

Dragonballs, bad wish, you know how it ends.

HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 82d (1 reply)

he turned into panties?

Lumidaub@feddit.org · 2 pts · 82d

A hat with two holes for his ears.

Lemminary@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 82d

Only to absorb their organs. And, boy, is he healthy now!

aeronmelon@lemmy.world · 32 pts · 83d (2 replies)

Yao Ming is literally twice as big as every other human.

_stranger_@lemmy.world · 11 pts · 83d

Honestly it might be more, mass and volume wise.

HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 82d

combined

protist@retrofed.com · 28 pts · 83d (7 replies)

Do you think Yao Ming is tired of people telling him he's tall?

drolex@sopuli.xyz · 13 pts · 83d (6 replies)

Wow you're tall, do you play basketball? Lol

protist@retrofed.com · 14 pts · 83d (2 replies)

I have a friend who's 6'5" and I've seen his eyes go dead so many times with this exact comment

HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 82d

i have a friend who's 7'1" and he leads with it. played in greece. he says he was terrible, just tall. but hell, if i played pro anywhere i'd lead with it too.

MIDItheKID@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 82d

I'm 6'4" and when people ask if I play basketball I just tell them "Nah, I play video games". The people who are disgusted by this answer are people who I know to avoid.

I then also let them know that 6'4" is on the short side for a Basketball player.

JamesBoeing737MAX@sopuli.xyz · 2 pts · 82d (1 reply)

Yeah, this is so annoying. No, I'm so hypotonic, I can barely walk. I can't even fucking play basketball.

I imagine, I will still hear this when I'm in my deathbed. Fucking stupid.

https://medium.com/@alexgoulden/what-percent-of-human-historys-7-footers-have-played-in-the-nba-ec4ec60c1801

To be fair, if you live in the US and are 7' or taller, there's a 17% chance you were employed by the NBA at some point.

If you lived anywhere in the world it only drops to 9%

So it's pretty decent odds that any random 7' or taller person has played basketball professionally.

How’s the weather up there?

Skuldug@lemmy.world · 28 pts · 83d (3 replies)

Yeah, that guy in the khakis is feeling real silly right about now eh?

OpenStars@piefed.social · 3 pts · 83d

Not if it were his intention to stand out!

LovableSidekick@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 82d

That's why you never skip leg day - they might hand out the new pants.

GladiusB@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 82d

Looks like it could be corderoy.

HakFoo@lemmy.sdf.org · 17 pts · 83d (12 replies)

It feels as like a dick move by whoever assigned seats.

You have a well-known celebrity who's famously tall, and you place him so 3 or 4 people straight behind will have an obstrcted view of the event.

I guess this is the "... But at what cost" we've been asking about.

cheat700000007@lemmy.world · 20 pts · 83d (4 replies)

I was thinking he should be in the front row, he needs the leg room

anomnom@sh.itjust.works · 5 pts · 82d (1 reply)

Even worse, it kinda looks like his chair has shorter legs. Might just be weird perspective, but crazy if they did that to keep him from sticking up too much.

cheat700000007@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 82d

Didn't notice that before, looks like you're right

Being tall doesn't mean you have super good vision.

deranger@sh.itjust.works · 7 pts · 83d (4 replies)

Yeah, he should be forced to have a shittier seat because he was born tall.

toynbee@piefed.social · 6 pts · 83d (3 replies)

He was born this tall? His poor mother.

deadcream@sopuli.xyz · 6 pts · 83d (2 replies)

Don't worry he came out horizontally

toynbee@piefed.social · 2 pts · 83d (1 reply)

Wonder how long it took.

HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 82d

it took 9 mothers 1 month each.

jet@hackertalks.com · 5 pts · 82d (1 reply)

See how everyone is looking to the left? They already put him on the side.

Sylvartas@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 4 pts · 82d

He's also being considerate by standing slightly to the (exterior) side of his chair

ricecake@sh.itjust.works · 15 pts · 83d (2 replies)

Yup, yao ming is pretty tall and it really stands out when compared to older Chinese men.
(Chinese men tend to be an inch or two shorter than US average, and the older generations grew up with some degree of food scarcity and tend to be about six inches shorter. Yao ming is 7'6”, which is quite tall. )

FishFace@piefed.social · 7 pts · 83d (1 reply)

As opposed to around younger Chinese men who, at all average of 7'3" allow him to blend right in...

ricecake@sh.itjust.works · 5 pts · 83d

Older Chinese men are like, a half foot shorter. It stands out more.

But you're right, I probably should have written that second paragraph saying that older Chinese men are on average shorter due to rampant food issues in china ~60 years ago.

How much faith would you have in that chair?

Greyghoster@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 83d

Normally a photoshoot starts with a shout that big people stand at the back.

BlackVenom@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 83d (1 reply)

When you're 5'6" and shadowing your mates

shawn1122@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 82d

Gonna guess most of the men in the image are 5'6" and the average mate would be Yao's nipple altitude.

Yeah, Yao Ming is really tall.
