People today: The old artists were masters! Current art is so degraded from the classics

The old art:

Man I know this is shitposting, but that doesn't make sense. I'm pretty sure contemporary People could tell the difference between low quality and high quality art back in their time too

Yes, and then the good stuff is more likely to survive through the ages and be shown off. I think that's what parent poster meant.

Modern man will never know if Neolithic humans designed their finest art to be temporary, biodegradable masterpieces and if cave paintings are just their equivalent of someone drawing a dick on a toilet stall wall while they shit.

Future man will know nothing of modern man because digital items don't translate into archeological material.

Your right that makes way more sense then what I was thinking

SirSamuel@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 77d

What were you expecting for THIS minimum wage?

Years ago the entire family would work on that same sculpture for DECADES. The boss wanted that by closing TODAY!

The Kailasa temple was a multi generational effort over more than a 100 years. It was typically a family of artisans across generations.

SeeMarkFly@lemmy.ml · 2 pts · 77d

The boss said TODAY and he wasn't smiling.

Yea, some of the sculptures is saw in Mexico took generations to finish. How did they get paid when they didn't FINISH anything?

At least back then you could leave all your worldly concerns behind and dedicate your life to wandering naked in the wilderness and still be a respected member of society

The workout schedule for dude on the right doesn't seem to include an arm or leg day, just chest and beer day.

Texas_Hangover@lemmy.radio · 2 pts · 77d

That's a lot like my own workout schedule, only without the chest day.

I think there has been some efforts to clean it but in India , so I'm told, there are some cultural ideas about polluting and littering that are difficult to get people to address.

And also it's common to bury people in the river. So it's full of decomposing bodies too.

I grew up near the Mississippi River and that river is almost as dirty as this one.

I was told as a kid that at one time it was crystal clear.

It's hard to imagine.

Now it's muddy and gross and you can't eat anything from it. And if you swim in it, you should probably get a tetnus booster.

Sad to see some of the largest rivers in the world completely destroyed.
