Man, you just reminded me of YouDontSurf and WhereDidTheSodaGo, two communities I'd long forgotten about and that we need to keep alive in Lemmy.

edit: i have been informed yds does exist

Since when does a browser nonprofit need to have any focus on sports?

arudesalad@piefed.ca · 18 pts · 78d (1 reply)

It's to get people talking about it (and it's clearly working)

Endymion_Mallorn@kbin.melroy.org · 4 pts · 78d

Those who mattered never really stopped. The problem is, how much can you talk about? They're owned opposition by Slopabet/Gooslop. The new mascot is a waste of money and time.

Everything but the browser needs to be jettisoned at this point. It needs to go back to being a 100% standards-compliant browser, ejecting all Gooslop promoted DRM and everything not independently entered by the W3C into the standards. It needs to be a knife at the throat of Gooslop, Micro$lop, Slopazon, Cloudfront, and the rest of the corporations which continue to take power away from the people online.

Mozilla has a bit of a habit of doing shit it doesn't need to do

It's only half non profit.

Another good reminder of my desire to drop this browser. The question is whether it's Ungoogled Chromium, or some Firefox forks available on Android and desktops.

crimson_iris@piefed.social · 2 pts · 77d

Librewolf has been good for me so far on desktop, Waterfox on Android.

atopi@piefed.blahaj.zone · 1 pts · 77d (1 reply)

a lot of people get excited for sports and for something that happens when that countdown ends

people working at firefox probably were some of those people and thought that, considering the event is so popular, it would help with exciting and not hurt anyone

Imgonnatrythis@sh.itjust.works · 1 pts · 74d

I think that would make a great obituary, "he help with exciting and not hurt anyone"

Words to live by.

Hugo Girlboss?

I mean, realistically if you gave a fox a ball, I could see it playing around with it. Like sure, they don't exactly know or care about the rules to soccer but it's not hard to find some way to play with a ball and foxes are active creatures that seem like they'd need a lot of enrichment to keep healthy.

Z3k3@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 78d

While I dont get this like at all who the duck cares. The sad reality is (from my pov) is humans give a fuck about about football. All I can do is roll my eyes avoid it as much as possible and try to educate those I k ow there is a subset of humanity that will never understand it.

Peter_Arbeitslos@feddit.org · 7 pts · 78d (2 replies)

TIL Iceshrimp exists.

Peter_Arbeitslos@feddit.org · 3 pts · 78d (1 reply)

Think I might begin changing my fediverse home every few months. Like distro hopping with Linux. Lemmy, Piefed, Iceshrimp, ...

Any recommendations?

OpenStars@piefed.social · 4 pts · 78d

Mbin? NodeBB? Misskey? Friendica? Loops? Pixelfed? Mastodon? (not compatible with Lemmy but PieFed and especially Mbin can interact with it fairly and extremely well, respectively) Flarum? (one day, not yet afaik)

Edit: Pleroma, Funkwhale, BookWyrm, and so much more - the Threadiverse is just the barest beginning of the tip of this iceberg! :-)

Kite is non-binary, so screw them

ZILtoid1991@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 77d

We need to gatekeep football from the likes of Kite. I still remember, when the football fandom was still a small circle, I knew everyone, and they all could talk about the biographies of football players. Nowadays the scene is full with poser tourists. /j
