And they keep building cars with cup holders.

darkdemize@sh.itjust.works · 24 pts · 63d (1 reply)

"Cup holder" implies that you're setting your drink down. The drink must remain in your hand at all times, otherwise it's a party foul.

Lemmyoutofhere@lemmy.ca · 6 pts · 63d

That’s why port is a travelling beverage.

Mac@mander.xyz · 3 pts · 62d

Ironically, cup holders were uncommon in cars when drink driving wasn't illegal. lol

bitjunkie@lemmy.world · 45 pts · 63d

Gas is 10% ethanol. Even the car is having a roadie, and I'm supposed to what exactly

Pat_Riot@lemmy.today · 39 pts · 63d

Quality shitpost

Strange rules and no country mentioned. I'm guessing it's about the USA.

ByteJunk@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 63d (2 replies)

Most countries prohibit sales of alcohol to minors, and when in doubt, the seller must ask for a form of ID. In the US, this is almost always a driver's license, since there's no national id card and state id isn't mandatory AFAIK - people will use that though if they don't have a driver's license for some reason.

Do you guys have some kind of app to verify your age that can be used in most stores?

some_kind_of_guy@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 62d

No. I'd say that we should have that, but knowing our track record for such things it would probably be actively harmful and cost more than it's worth.

Maybe some states do have that, idk. Not mine though. That's the biggest issue, each state having their own separate system for ID.

"REAL ID" was an attempt to form a national standard and it's been a total clusterfuck with basically no benefit to the average person, except now you can't fly without one.

(You actually can get a sort of digital version of REAL ID after paying a $45 "fuck you" fee, but it only works at the TSA checkpoints at the airport, using their app, which also seems like a fucking terrible idea. I will continue to print my paper boarding passes and go through security with my phone turned off and placed inside a verified-working Faraday bag.)

I don't know, man. Based on the language of the meme and the triangle on the guy's shirt, at first I thought of Bermuda.

Passport or just an id card work as well.

TheTechnician27@lemmy.world · 52 pts · 63d (3 replies)

Why do bars have parking lots?

a_non_monotonic_function@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 62d (2 replies)

More importantly, why do lots have parking bars?

For real, I need to know this immediately to explain it to my parole officer.

dai@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 62d (1 reply)

Its where you leave your plutonic life partner while you shop for gender neutral frocks.

HikingVet@lemmy.ca · 2 pts · 62d

I hope you wear lead lined underwear.

hOrni@lemmy.world · 9 pts · 63d

Damn right I drink and drive. My car, my rules.

Themosthighstrange@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 63d (2 replies)

Back in the 80s they had drive thrus where you could by alcoholic slushies

Siethron@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 63d (1 reply)

Pretty sure drive-thru dackeries are still a thing on Bourbon Street in New Orleans

ChickenLadyLovesLife@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 62d

They're still a thing everywhere in Louisiana. They put a piece of scotch tape over the lid which of course is just a completely unsolvable puzzle until you get home with it.

Etterra@discuss.online · 4 pts · 62d

You don't actually need a driver's license if you have a different photo ID issued by the government, typically a state ID.

peteypete420@sh.itjust.works · 4 pts · 61d

You dont tho

turtlesareneat@piefed.ca · 4 pts · 62d

If you're not meant to dabble in addiction, why are there rehabs?

bandwidthcrisis@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 63d

And drive-thru liquor stores.

LodeMike@lemmy.today · 4 pts · 63d

You don't. You need a state ID. Most people just happen to have a drivers license.

HikingVet@lemmy.ca · 2 pts · 63d

You don't though. I've never had a license yet I can get booze.

stickyprimer@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 62d

You don’t. My first fake id was someone’s old military id.

stupidcasey@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 63d

Technically the drivers license is a field sobriety test, you have to be at least drunk enough to operate a motor vehicle under the influence before you can buy alcohol, they sometimes have you breath in an exhaust pipe if they think you are really sober.
