And then you come up with a place for the replacement and find the lost one.

I have a small method I use. If I cannot find something and am searching for it. I take a mental note of the first place I looked for. Then, when I eventually find it, I put it back at the place I first thought of looking, because it must be a "logical" place for this thing to be.

I like this idea!

Have you checked both of your hands?

That's not a joke. I once did 2 laps around a work office looking for paperwork that was in my hand the entire time.

You'll find it 5 years from now when you are moving

I lost two pairs of keys this way. I'm sure they're still in the house and I checked everywhere. I still don't know where the fuck they can be.

I do this all the time. Worse its not a safe place its the place I put it in so I would be sure not to forget it.

NepGinger@lemy.nl · 2 pts · 75d

I don't know where it is, but I know I put it somewhere very convenient and logical. So. There..?

Twin bought tin foil. I placed tin foil somewhere because we still had some left. Tin foil is gone. I have memory issues. Tin foil is in the tin foil dimension now.

I put it in its home preferably then point at it and say what it is and where it is a few times, works pretty well for me

It was 3 weeks ago when I've put my travel power bank in the safe place. Still searching. It's a bummer that I can't ring to it.

It's called being clever. It's how many things are lost forever

I always feel weird that I can find what I'm looking for faster the less organized I am. Every time I organize all of my stuff into something that makes sense to me, I'll spend a ton of time looking for something. Meanwhile if it's disorganized and a mess, I can find anything immediately.

I went camping, came home and put them in a safe place while I unpacked.

I have not seen my car keys in a year. Thank the gods my wife has the spare, otherwise I'd be in a world of hurt.

....especially because I also set down my replacement car keys at one point, and they decided to run off with the first set...

It's safe from the most dangerous thing, you!
