They should drop all of them, because Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.

Hot take: The "no prohibiting the free exercise of religion" rule should be updated to "religion should be practiced free as long as it does not seek to subvert democratic institutions, or infringe other people's human rights". Anything else will lead to the slow and painful death of secularism.

Yeah, we need to crack down on religion because they're oppressing people who want nothing to do with them

blargh513@sh.itjust.works · 5 pts · 62d (1 reply)

Start a church. They're tax exempt. In fact, I don't even think that the IRS is permitted to audit them.

It's on my to-do list. Beyond being tax free, you can go out and solicit donations, you can fundraise in a variety of ways, I'll bet you could get "clergy" passes for parking or any number of conveniences.

No need to start one just get ordained by the ULC!

Exactly. Either all known religions have to be part of this list, or none of them.

jasoman@lemmy.world · 12 pts · 62d

Lol that is not how corruption works.

ExtremeDullard@piefed.social · 1 pts · 61d

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof

You mean that piece of paper Trump wipes his ample ass with?
Sorry, there's a long brown stain covering that amendment now.

This restructuring of faith codes, which help identity service members as well as the military in planning for appropriated religious coverage to include them, has now excluded minority faith/worldview groups including Atheists, Asatru, Deists, Druids, Eckankar, Heathens, Humanists, Magick, New Age churches, Pagan, Rosicrucianism, Shaman, Spiritualists, Troth, Unitarian Universalists and various Wiccans.

Lmfao very big "you're not quitting, you're fired" energy

Rhynoplaz@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 62d (3 replies)

They did leave "No Religion" as an option, I think that still applies.

BillyClark@piefed.social · 4 pts · 62d (2 replies)

Looking at that list, there are many that I'm not familiar with, but Wicca is definitely a religion, isn't it? Maybe they left "Wicca" in the list and removed specific types of Wicca? It's not completely clear, but anyways, if they completely removed Wicca, then a Wiccan wouldn't have a way to answer.

samus12345@sh.itjust.works · 3 pts · 62d

They'd have to be "Other Religions"

Rhynoplaz@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 62d

There's also "other religion" as an option.

prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 3 pts · 62d (1 reply)

Troth

That's a new one for me

BillyClark@piefed.social · 1 pts · 62d

What if they had a social media site? Would it be called troth social?

wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz · 1 pts · 62d

What about Dudists and Jedi?

unmagical@lemmy.ml · 29 pts · 63d (1 reply)

Ah the Trump covid testing strategy. If you don't look for cases then they will simply not exist.

NoForwadSlashS@piefed.social · 3 pts · 63d

Domt ask, don't tell is the hot new strategy for dealing with literally everything.

daannii@lemmy.world · 26 pts · 63d (3 replies)

Let the lawsuits commence

Auk@lemmy.world · 12 pts · 63d (2 replies)

Please, take my tax money.

daannii@lemmy.world · 12 pts · 63d (1 reply)

Lawsuits are , unfortunately, the only way things get fixed in this country.

Peppycito@sh.itjust.works · 6 pts · 62d

We can reduce that even further: money is the only way things get fixed in this country.

HubertManne@piefed.social · 10 pts · 62d (2 replies)
