We should probably disect Elon for science for the betterment of humanity

69420@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 67d

dissect disembowel

lime@feddit.nu · 14 pts · 67d (8 replies)

i am on the record as saying that nobody "deserves" to die, but i can get behind a noble sacrifice in the name of scientific advancement.

ayyy@sh.itjust.works · 9 pts · 66d (5 replies)

Someone responsible for the deaths of millions of people (remember USAID?) deserves to die.

lime@feddit.nu · 2 pts · 66d (4 replies)

i will continue disagreeing. i think they need to see the damage first hand. they deserve to be stripped of power and fame, prevented from ever gaining it back, and permanently marked to live in misery for the rest of their lives.

ayyy@sh.itjust.works · 6 pts · 66d (3 replies)

Seeing the suffering makes him happy not miserable. He is fully aware of what he is doing.

lime@feddit.nu · 2 pts · 66d (2 replies)

only because he's removed from it

ayyy@sh.itjust.works · 1 pts · 65d (1 reply)

At this point you are denying reality because such evil is incomprehensible to a functional well adjusted person like yourself. Broken people who need to be disposed of exist. Your ideals don’t change that oppressively sad fact.

lime@feddit.nu · 1 pts · 65d

look, i'm not saying it wouldn't be good.

Cethin@lemmy.zip · 2 pts · 66d (1 reply)

I would argue people deserve to die if they're sufficient net negative to society. I believe Musk is one of these, as are most, if not all, seriel killers. The issue is determining who these people are, which we won't all agree on. I don't think the state should have this power because they get it wrong too often (and also I think their incentives are usually wrong and they benefit from protecting the wealthy).

lime@feddit.nu · 1 pts · 66d

i woulh rather they be made to personally deal with all the consequences of their actions. do unto others. death is easy, but making these people grasp what they have done is hard.

unfortunately there's no real way to do that.

not believing anyone deserves to die doesn't mean i don't approve.

30p87@feddit.org · 10 pts · 67d (1 reply)

I mean... as long as he's just dead all is well

FistingEnthusiast@lemmy.world · 10 pts · 67d

I would like to watch it when he's still alive

Malyca@lemmy.zip · 6 pts · 66d (1 reply)

You'll find nothing but Nazi despair inside.

gandalf_der_12te@feddit.org · 0 pts · 66d

you wouldn't physically see that

JcbAzPx@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 66d

Completely unrelated question, how long has it been since the last time we had a vivisection?

BestBouclettes@jlai.lu · 54 pts · 67d (1 reply)

Wasn't there a study where a hoarding monkey got severely beaten by the other monkeys ?

skittle07crusher@sh.itjust.works · 11 pts · 66d

To shreds, you say?

brownsugga@lemmy.world · 51 pts · 67d (8 replies)

How rich does someone have to be before their physical body is torn to shreds in front of a cheering crowd? Purely theoretical question

Knock_Knock_Lemmy_In@lemmy.world · 22 pts · 66d (6 replies)

Absolute weath is not the real measure. Rockefeller was worth 600bn in today's money.

Inequality is what is more important

US more unequal than french revolution

kevin2107@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 66d (5 replies)

yeah and look what happened to them, spacex should be disbanded.

Knock_Knock_Lemmy_In@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 66d (4 replies)

SpaceX has a decent COO and business model. It's not worth 1trn though.

Cethin@lemmy.zip · 5 pts · 66d (1 reply)

It should be nationalized. It does do some good things. It just does a lot of harm while doing so. It should be allowed to keep operating, but for the public good.

Knock_Knock_Lemmy_In@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 66d

Nasa should get to use it for free.

kevin2107@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 66d (1 reply)

SpaceX does but X.ai, X, and all the other shit companies he umbrella'd under it and not worth it. That's what I meant by disband

gandalf_der_12te@feddit.org · 1 pts · 66d

yeah unfortunately musk has gotten that idea that you can't have a mars colony unless you also have fully autonomous robotic workforce there to build everything ... i don't agree.

chonglibloodsport@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 66d

Depends on how powerful they are.

I’m sure millions of Ukrainians would love to tear billionaire Putin to shreds, they just can’t get at him.

MrSelatcia@lemmy.world · 14 pts · 66d (3 replies)

The other monkeys would kill the hoarding monkey and take his bananas. Maybe the monkeys have it figured out.

Zron@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 66d (1 reply)

Eat and masturbate all day

Sleep in a tree

Occasionally violently murder others causing you distress

Yeah, I think they have it pretty figured out. We fucked it up

OleFoFa@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 65d

We never should of gotten down from the trees. Big mistake

MyVeryRealName@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 66d

With humans, the monkeys with atleast one banana defend the banana hoarder because they want to kill the starving monkeys.

MedicPigBabySaver@lemmy.world · 14 pts · 67d

Musk = POS Nazi.

veni_vedi_veni@lemmy.world · 12 pts · 66d

I like the video of researchers experimenting on social behavior in monkeys where they gave one monkey a banana who was happy until they gave another monkey a cherry in view of the first. That first monkey lost his shit and started screaming at the researcher by being visibly frustrated in his cage.

That's us, except we are losing our bananas, while the other one is getting the entire cherry orchid.

Una@europe.pub · 10 pts · 67d

Throw him to the Tigers, kitties are hungry. :3

NotASharkInAManSuit@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 66d

It’s good to know we learned the obvious and valuable lesson Howard Hughes and the dangers of concentrated wealth have taught us multiple times over throughout the past, because it would be really fucking stupid for the world to repeatedly enable that exact same situation over and over again, that would be really disappointing.

RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 65d

The brief period of democracy is over for the West. It is incompatible with wild wealth disparity.

switcheroo@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 66d

We already have scientists who study parasites. Muskrat is a parasite.

tristan@tarte.nuage-libre.fr · 4 pts · 67d

I mean, in the simplistic case of monkeys, this doesn’t work because the other monkeys starve, which is a failure as a species.

The monkey would have to hoard just enough bananas that the other monkeys can still barely their basic desires, while keeping them hungry for more and letting them believe they could one day be like you and get as many bananas by working their way up an imaginary hierarchy, where the way to go up is to fuck over other monkeys and get you as many bananas as they can, while you give them the minimum possible share.

SethTaylor@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 66d (1 reply)

How much is 1.33 trillion meme-coin in USD?

remotedev@lemmy.ca · 4 pts · 66d

About tree fiddy

chonglibloodsport@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 66d (1 reply)

Bananas are perishable, so yeah it’s kinda dumb to hoard them unless you are planning to bake a lot of banana bread. Mmmmm banana bread!

Etterra@discuss.online · 1 pts · 66d

Those monkeys are too busy hammering away at typewriters to bake, SMH

leaky_shower_thought@feddit.nl · 2 pts · 67d

i like her argument and all but...

now that elon-monkey is here, she-monkey should tell them other monkeys where those scientists should be~

bestboyfriendintheworld@sh.itjust.works · 0 pts · 65d

Elon Musk doesn’t sit on a literal mountain of money like a dragon on gold.

Eyekaytee@aussie.zone · -13 pts · 67d (6 replies)

because most of the other monkeys humans aren't starving

easy

Eyekaytee@aussie.zone · -9 pts · 67d (1 reply)

Africans should attack their trillionaires or something then

pipi1234@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 66d

Indeed my friend, they should.

ayyy@sh.itjust.works · 4 pts · 66d (2 replies)

Tell that to the children of Palestine who get shot in bread lines by evil Zionists.

sudo@lemmy.today · 2 pts · 66d (1 reply)

you already said shooting starving children.. zionist and evil both feel a little redundant

ayyy@sh.itjust.works · 1 pts · 66d

The person I replied to consistently denies that such atrocities even happen so subtly is not an option.

krisevol@lemmus.org · -13 pts · 67d (18 replies)

Elon isn't hoarding cash

TheBloodFarts@lemmy.ca · 5 pts · 66d (17 replies)

Owning 1.3T of anything is a hoard by definition. I would be surprised if anyone at any time in history has ever owned a trillion of anything

MacNCheezus@lemmy.today · -2 pts · 66d

You know that number is entirely theoretical, right?

If he were to sell all of his stock tomorrow, it would tank the value immediately and he'd never get even close to half of that money (probably far less).

krisevol@lemmus.org · -7 pts · 66d (15 replies)

So no one is own to own a company? Because that is all his wealth. It's stock shares.

FlexibleToast@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 66d (14 replies)

No one person should have that much wealth. Correct.

krisevol@lemmus.org · -11 pts · 66d (13 replies)

It's crazy that you think someone can't own a business

klankin@piefed.ca · 4 pts · 66d (2 replies)

Genuinely asking what's the difference?

Like sure liquid $1T would be insane for one person to have, but a $1T company is equally as insane

qaz@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 66d

It's not as insane because there is a significant difference between liquid and illiquid assets in how these can affect the world. However, regardless of how it compares, people owning more than a billion is one more sign our global economic system is very broken (and trillion even more so).

krisevol@lemmus.org · 0 pts · 66d

A 1 trillion company trading at 350 p/e tells you everything you need to know about how liquid the market would be if he tried to sell it all

Phantaloons@piefed.zip · 2 pts · 66d (8 replies)

it's crazy to have 1.3T dollars

somehow =

it's crazy to own a business

what a fucking idiot

krisevol@lemmus.org · -2 pts · 66d (7 replies)

He doesn't have a trillion dollars. Are you an idiot?

Phantaloons@piefed.zip · 1 pts · 66d

Come back to the comment in four months.

Yes, I can see the future.

TheBloodFarts@lemmy.ca · 1 pts · 66d

Buddy you love licking boots

FlexibleToast@lemmy.world · 0 pts · 65d

I didn't say that. I said nobody should have that much wealth. If the business is worth that much, no one person should own that large of a stake in it because it's apparently a very important business.
