This shavette is not mine and came in a hair cutting set with scissors etc.
I thought I put in a blade (from a pack of 5 I got for free) and try it out.
It didn't have a break line so I cut it with scissors.
The shavette didn't have a very good balance (handle too heavy).
The edge felt kind of keen but also not. On one hand I needed less pressure than normal, but on the other it didn't quite cut effortlessly.
I got quite a lot of weepers, even in places that I normally don't like on my neck.
I decided not to chase better results and leave my skin alone.
The alum stung a lot.
My straight razor edges aren't always better than this but my better edges definitely feel better.
I would say this edge feels kind of "mean" and really not smooth.
If that makes sense.
Lotion: Humble Bee Botanicals Calendulove Face Cream
Fragrance: Stirling Hipster EdT
1st pass WTG, 2nd pass XTG. Comfortably close shave.
I liked the scent of Retreat, although I was expecting it to be less strong. My face seemed to like it better than Lavender Noire, so that's a win! I felt it was pretty easy to lather up and dial in. I look forward to trying Le Nude (fragrance free). Thanks for the recommendation Walden!
Lather: La Maison du Savon de Marseille - Aloe Vera & Donkey Milk - Soap
Post Shave: Mäurer & Wirtz - Tabac - Aftershave
Post Shave: Oleo & Company Soapmakers - Facial Toner
Such a nice shave. As far as lather goes, this soap falls into the same category as Williams for me. It's not meant to be worked into a beautiful, rich lather. Just load it, maybe add some more water, and go. The lather falls apart faster than Williams, but despite that, it's slick as heck. And it smells great! Much better than Williams in that regard.
I love this razor, and I love Zorrik blades. Combined, they are amazing.

A really nice slow shave to start my Saturday morning. Seine Reserve is a great scent.

2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.
Create shave with Island Man and a very successful test shave with u/sgrdddy's razor.

This soap is № 37 (inspired by Old Spice) not Hangar 37.
This soap was featured in The Great Spice Off #19 and the Adventus Calendar day 12.
Have a good one.
