So true. I have never played the game (though it has been in my Steam Library for a long long time) and instantly recognised the game from the picture.
This is true, but the game's advertisements really pushed the hack and slash component over the RTS one.
I pre-ordered this game because I adored Double-Fine, and a heavy metal-themed Zelda-like starring Jack Black from the creators of Psychonauts sounded amazing. That was not what I was delivered.
Yeah the demo before release only showed the open world side, so it was quite a shock. Still decent if disjointed. Personally I could have done without the RTS part, or have it as a simpler mini game.
Brutal Legend, one of my favorites. Loves the rts elements in it, which most seem to hate lol. But I loved the game and its story. Features Ozzy Osborne too.
Please continue putting better known games from time to time, so that everyone can have a Aha moment. The obscure games are awesome as well, but I haven't known a single one of them XD
I really like paychonauts (which my phone keeps trying to correct to psycho nuts). How’s this? I’ve always thought I should play it. I did not know until this thread that it has rts elements. I like rts games.
It's fun and has its moments. I haven't played it in probably 10-15 years though. But I'm the same as you, Psychonauts was my childhood game and the sequel is a masterpiece.
It's hilarious. I don't even really like that genre of music and still found it hilarious. The gameplay catches people off guard because it's a peculiar mix of RTS and third person action hack/slash.

I couldn't get into it. I'm old and having to do combos and run across maps was boring and tedious

Brutal Legend. MC voiced by Jack Black.
Had a weird RTS component that I didn’t appreciate. Otherwise a really good game.

I'd argue it didn't have an RTS component. It was an RTS that had a hack and slash component.

That’s fair. I only really made it until the RTS component started showing up and kind of drifted to another game.

Not surprised how quickly this one got solved ! But wanted to mix things up with a more “modern” game

Oh I know that one.
You can see Jack Black as a character from behind.
The game is called BrĂĽtal Legends.
Heavy metal through and through.

The only reason I know Double Fine. To this day I don't get why they're generally known for Psychonauts over this.

That game was so much fun. Tim Curry as the big-bad. So much fun.

I would compare the game play to Overlord if you’ve played that one. But it moves a lot faster.

Loved this game, the gameplay was OK, but the sound track and cameos were the absolute best.
