No 5 foot pipe used as a cheater bar after making peace with death?

Onomatopoeia@lemmy.cafe · 39 pts · 45d (5 replies)

Was gonna ask the same.

Very little doesn't give way to a cheater pipe. Now, it may not be the part you want giving way...

Weakest link was where it was going to break anyway. At least it moves the goal to something new..

theunknownmuncher@lemmy.world · 15 pts · 45d (1 reply)

The goal isn't you though

yggstyle@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 44d

This guy gets it.

When you get the cheater bar you aren't working towards a resolution anymore. You are working towards satisfaction.

If you win: good. It shoulda given and saved us both the time.

If it loses: good. Rust in pieces.

My dad's go to phrase was always "I'm either gonna fix it or fuck it up."

When I worked in a shop one of the other mechanics had to have his front teeth replaced after a using a cheater bar.

titanicx@lemmy.zip · 6 pts · 45d (2 replies)

How the hell.

fraksken@infosec.pub · 10 pts · 45d (1 reply)

My guess is the tube broke and the wrench went flying

Edit: typo x2

Everything worked as designed. The stubborn nut broke loose, but he was pulling toward his face.

anomnom@sh.itjust.works · 8 pts · 45d

Cordless impacts let you skip that step and go straight to the broken bolt.

In my experience a nice rubber mallet can be useful before having to resort to the “you should have listened” stage.

mote@lemmy.ca · 15 pts · 45d (1 reply)

... "OK the hard way" or "I wasn't joking" hmm

dohpaz42@lemmy.world · 12 pts · 45d

How about “If you really insist”?

That's me at step 3 about to get mentally ready to move to step 4 when I get his crazy idea and try to turn in the opposite direction.

acchariya@lemmy.world · 14 pts · 45d

Induction bolt heater FTW. Seriously, it's magic to get a bolt glowing red while leaving everything next to it room temperature

MeatPilot@sh.itjust.works · 12 pts · 45d

My stage 4

Alright bitch

bort@sopuli.xyz · 7 pts · 45d

try giving it the blowtorch as a warning for a couple seconds. that usually scares the screw enough to come loose via normal wrench.

Wren@lemmy.today · 5 pts · 44d

The last pic is the same if you're trying to connect pieces.

ohshit604@sh.itjust.works · 3 pts · 45d

5 is a bit excessive, cut the bolt head off with 4 then drill and re-tap the threads.

I’m sure the company/client wouldn’t appreciate the hole being all mangled with oxy-acetylene.

No impact driver? Satisfying and a frustration release.

GreenKnight23@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 45d

that torch will leave an impact.

Soo, the crank is rated for that huge lever, doesn't break?
