Most corporate media has a financial interest in not doing that

BeardededSquidward@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 11 pts · 46d

They've always had a financial interest in Trump being president because he's so volatile of a person that he draws traffic with everything he does. People fall for it all the time. I've stopped caring much about what "Trump says" and more of what Trump DOES.

Can you please explain this? I don't understand

Gullible Brain. Nothing is connected, at all. It's just daily synchronicity.

Lucidlethargy@sh.itjust.works · 23 pts · 46d

We don't really have much "media" any longer... Just lots of propaganda peddling nonsense networks owned by rich shitheads.

EntheoNaut@lemmy.ml · 22 pts · 46d

Media owned by the oligarchy empowered

Duh

someguy3@lemmy.world · 11 pts · 46d (4 replies)

Fox won't and the "left" normal media won't unless it's diagnosed because they are beholden to journalistic integrity. This is the disparity we're stuck with.

GeeDubHayduke@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 8 pts · 46d (1 reply)

Is this "left media" in the room with us right now..?

nelly_man@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 46d

Hence the scare quotes in their comment.

kent_eh@lemmy.ca · 6 pts · 46d

The "left wing media" is only as left as their conservative owners will allow them to be

Assassassin@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 3 pts · 46d

You should probably put quotes around "beholden to journalistic integrity". That only seems to be the case when it suits the network heads.

a_non_monotonic_function@lemmy.world · 10 pts · 46d

Because he does a slap lawsuit every time he gets his diaper in a bunch?

That, and he has ok'd his rich friends buying up all of the media.

I wonder just how many pictures of this guy people will share modified with penises after he's no longer in power.

Poor, fictional peni. 🥲

Because it’s captured.

Maybe Jake Tapper can write a book about it.

UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world · 13 pts · 46d (2 replies)

The day after Trump is out of office, you're going to get a tsunami of "We knew all along" gossip books. Just like last term.

UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 46d (8 replies)

I've been hearing "Trump Dementia" stories since his first term.

0x0@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 5 pts · 46d (2 replies)

What's your point? Is that not consistent with dementia?

UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 46d

Having shit politics can happen at any age or mental condition

Alice: "I have not seen X."

Bob: "Well, I have seen X."

You: "What is your point?"

GeeDubHayduke@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 5 pts · 46d (4 replies)

Fucker wanted to nuke hurricanes. That. Is. Demented.

UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 46d (3 replies)

It's part of Project Plowshare from the 1950s

Meteorologist Jack Reed took inspiration from the 1952 Ivy Mike nuclear test and drew up plans to disrupt hurricanes with nuclear bombs.[13] Reed, an early hurricane hunter,[14] had worked in the U.S. nuclear test program and studied the atmospheric effects of nuclear explosions.[13] He authored the paper "Some Speculations on the Effects of Nuclear Explosions on Hurricanes", containing two proposals: Plan A and Plan B. Plan A envisioned using one or two 20-megaton nuclear bombs to destroy a hurricane's symmetry, weakening it and redirecting it back towards the ocean. Plan B envisioned using a single 20-megaton nuclear bomb, or many smaller bombs, to blow the eye of the storm into the stratosphere, which would slow or halt the hurricane. He was amenable to both dropping the bomb from an airplane or launching it from a submarine. He argued that radiation would have minimal effects and did not address potential harm to marine life. He presented these proposals to the 1959 symposium on Project Plowshare and an American Meteorological Society conference,[13] and unsuccessfully sought its inclusion in the International Geophysical Year.

Isn't that when we proved it wasn't a good idea?

UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 45d (1 reply)

We didn't prove it so much as we didn't try it because the folks in charge assumed it was a bad idea.

BeMoreCareful@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 45d

I guess that "gave it a think" would be a bit better. Though I'm not positive how much then really knew about radiation.

homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 46d (1 reply)

More to the point: why can’t this be posted in the politics comm? Because it violates their rules.

Because the news is dead and we don’t know what to do about it.

wyldrstallyns@lemmy.dbzer0.com · -2 pts · 46d

Oh, may I interest you in, perhaps, a little slice, a tiny morsel, un amous bouch so wafer thin it could not exist in any moment but this, a well-earned first course: anarchy! 🤷🏼‍♂️

no idea where the cartoon revolutionary came from

SeeMarkFly@lemmy.ml · 4 pts · 46d

I've known about it for decades. Old news.

alekwithak@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 46d

Same reason they fabricated gaffes to report on* for Biden, because 'the media' is just billionaire propaganda.

NoForwadSlashS@piefed.social · 2 pts · 46d

I don't see no content

bitwolf@sh.itjust.works · 1 pts · 46d

Anyone have a "no dark pattern" link?

IAmYouButYouDontKnowYet@reddthat.com · -3 pts · 46d

Why bother... It would just end up being a distraction from the reality that whole game is a sham. It'll give people the illusion of making freedom history of picking the next new fake.

TachyonTele_Esq@piefed.social · -6 pts · 46d (2 replies)

Why isn’t the media reporting on Trump’s growing dementia?

...is the articles title, since OP is allergic to them.

Sharkticon@lemmy.zip · 5 pts · 46d (1 reply)

Huh?

TachyonTele_Esq@piefed.social · -7 pts · 46d

(content in post body)
is surprisingly not the articles title. Though you may be tempted to think otherwise.

ouRKaoS@lemmy.today · -8 pts · 46d (3 replies)

The media doesn't focus on presidential disabilities, like Roosevelt's wheelchair.

AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 46d (1 reply)

That was more because of radio being the main form of entertainment, not TV, and something that's called "decorum,"

PyroVK@lemmy.zip · 9 pts · 46d

Also him being in a wheelchair didn't affect his mental capabilities like dementia does.

GeeDubHayduke@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 4 pts · 46d

I guess the years of "Biden is to old/Biden is sundowning" from every facet of corporate media were... encouragement?

How much did you spend on your bridge?

Foxer@lemmy.ca · -18 pts · 46d (9 replies)

There's really no evidence of dementia. If you knew anything about dementia or spent any time around dementia patients you wouldn't make that comment.

I think there's some evidence that he's beginning to slow down cognitively as everyone does as they get older but there's no indication of dementia or a lack of mental capacity.

Also the media tore into anyone who made comments about biden who actually had dementia for years. So maybe people are just afraid of being attacked by the media now if they bring it up again

D_C@sh.itjust.works · 11 pts · 46d (4 replies)

You are now tagged as dementia denier.

Foxer@lemmy.ca · -7 pts · 46d (3 replies)

LOL well it just wouldn't be a good day if i didn't make it on SOMEbody's list for something 😜

snooggums@piefed.world · 6 pts · 46d (2 replies)

Maybe you could try getting on a list for doing something good.

jerkface@lemmy.ca · 0 pts · 46d

Calm down, the five minutes of hate are over, you're supposed to go back to being a sane person now.

Foxer@lemmy.ca · -3 pts · 46d

The kind of people who make lists are not the kind of people who care about doing good things. They're the kind of people that prefer to pigeonhole people that they believe based on their own ideology is unacceptable. You didn't see Hitler making a list of "good" jews . Maybe you shouldn't be making lists?

GeeDubHayduke@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 4 pts · 46d (3 replies)

"Inject bleach." "Nuke hurricanes." "They're eating cats and dogs." stares into sun

The greatest hits from someone that's TOTALLY NOT DEMENTED!

Foxer@lemmy.ca · -4 pts · 46d (2 replies)

Sorry but there's a big difference between occasionally stupid and dementia. If you had a family member that had dementia you wouldn't make those kind of statements. Trump does not have dementia and lying about it just makes those who have legitimate criticisms of trump look bad

GeeDubHayduke@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 1 pts · 45d (1 reply)

Thank you for that professional assessment, Internet rando. I'm totally convinced.

Foxer@lemmy.ca · -2 pts · 45d

LOL That's the kind of thing people say when they know that the other guy is right but they're just two emotionally damaged to admit it. So they lash out and suddenly everything is my fault because they can't come back with anything to refute the point 😂

I understand this is upsetting for you. Unfortunately for your echo chamber trump does not have dementia. He's a slight bit of cognitive decline which is noticeable but it's a long way from dementia.
