New Mexico attorney general says DOJ is withholding ‘critical’ information related to Epstein’s Zorro Ranch

New Mexico Attorney General Raúl Torrez is accusing the US Justice Department of withholding access to unredacted files related to late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, arguing that the lack of cooperation is preventing the state from bringing justice to survivors.

“Every day that the USDOJ withholds these records, the foundation upon which a New Mexico prosecution could be built erodes,” Torrez wrote in a scathing letter to Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche on June 30 that was publicly released on Thursday.

“Witnesses relocate and become unreachable. Memories, already strained by years of trauma, fade further. Physical and documentary evidence degrades, is lost, or is rendered more difficult to authenticate with the passage of time,” Torrez added.

If the majority of this administration ends up anywhere other than gallows, swiftly after the 2029 election, democracy is lost.

Ok, let’s do the healing by fire.

Gotta cauterize the wounds.

Hell yes it was. I honestly like most songs they ever recorded though. Even the newer stuff isn't too bad.

I'd settle for a supermax full of them. We're not good at hanging people anymore.

GuyFawkesV@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 42d

Nope. We saw how that worked with the Jan 6 insurrectionists. We can no longer leave the possibility of undoing it.

lemmyng@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 42d

I can go either way. In both cases, their supporters will be scared back into their mothers' basements to rot for eternity.

I think us doing a bad job at hanging them would be the preferable way to do it. Maybe it'll take two or three tries, but we'll get there in the end.

Give them the MAGA quality execution they've earned, and deserve.

At the end of WWII, there were a lot of local military trials of Nazi shitheads, and many were executed by deliberately using short drop hangings, in which the body doesn't drop far enough to snap the neck, and they just strangle slowly as they dangle.

In fact, the primary executioner at Nuremburg was a rank amateur, who lied about having previous execution experience. Yet the American military put him in charge anyway, and as a result, many of the executions were botched, resulting in mumerous agonizing Nazi deaths. Totally by accident. Right. Oh well.

I think there are other acceptable options, there's the guillotine, firing squad, electric chair, drawing and quartering, iron maiden, pendulum, and more!

BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today · 2 pts · 41d

We'll have a lot to get through, we'll have to employ all our options. Don't forget Nitrogen Asphyxiation.

Agreed except they don't deserve any Bruce Dickinson the man is too good for them

I don’t know if even that is enough to save democracy

mig@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 40d

Elections are 4 months away my friend, November 3rd. Congress has the power to investigate, impeach, convict, and the power of the purse to stop all this shit. We have a Trump-supporting congress. Throw those bums out.

If you care enough to want change you MUST care enough to start voting in the rest of the elections, down to state and local. That's where these fascists gain a foothold in the first place.

SatansMaggotyCumFart@piefed.world · -2 pts · 41d

If that happens you can be sure republicans will be finding any flimsy reason they can to hang democrats next time they’re in power.

We're going to PROTECT CHILDREN by INVESTIGATING this HUGE Child Sex Trafficking Crime Scene! letting Epstein's friends TRACK your Children when they're ONLINE!

-The US Government!

kreskin@lemmy.world · 25 pts · 42d (4 replies)

Well they dug up all the gravesites on the ranch and any bodies in them had been moved, so case closed. plus the state didnt make sex trafficcing a crime until 2008 and the crimes only started being investigated in 2019 with a 10 year statue of limitation,, so I guess that sex trafficcing is past its statutes of limitations-- so no crime occurred. Again, case closed. And the Israeli ambassador would like to know who is going to clean up the damage incurred on the property by all these searches. I assume the US government will pay them our tax money for the damages.

CmdrShepard49@sh.itjust.works · 9 pts · 42d (2 replies)

Trafficking is just one component of the crimes committed, so I don't see how you can come the conclusion that "no crime occurred." I'm as cynical as the next guy, but you're really reaching here.
