Fuuuuuuuuuck man, I hate this timeline so fucking much.

Me and this fat kid

We ran, we ate and read books

And it was the best.

subOrange@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 35d (9 replies)

This, compared to which timeline where everyone lives forever?

Abyssian@lemmy.world · 27 pts · 35d (3 replies)

Nah, compared to the timeline where we get Event Horizon 2: In the Mouth of Moar Madness and it's 36 hour extended cut made specifically for watching during drug binges.

SarcasticMan@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 35d (2 replies)

Idk about the Event Horizon but can I just have the drug binges?

Abyssian@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 35d (1 reply)

Nah, it all works together so you think you're stuck in space or hell or a story someone is writing and everything is insane and maybe you have no eyes and sometimes you're an alligator.

SarcasticMan@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 35d

Eh fuck it, I'll take it.

TrickDacy@lemmy.world · 20 pts · 35d (3 replies)

Compared to the timeline where Nazi pedophiles are the ones that die in their 70s.

shittydwarf@piefed.ca · 10 pts · 35d (2 replies)

The main one is in his 80s now

TrickDacy@lemmy.world · 12 pts · 35d

I'm aware. Kinda the point. We wish we were in a universe where scum like that dies earlier than non-scum.

greenbit@lemmy.zip · 1 pts · 35d

Do we even know who the main ones are

SarcasticMan@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 35d

I think you know what I meant, but just couldn't help yourself from being a cunt. I hope you find your peace, friend.

comador@lemmy.world · 52 pts · 35d

Damn I hate getting old.

TheStaffmaster@lemmy.world · 50 pts · 35d

THIS WAS NOT THE THIRD ONE, DEATH.

boaratio@lemmy.world · 39 pts · 35d (10 replies)

I know it's not a great movie, but I loved him in Event Horizon. So sad to hear he passed away.

Snowcano@startrek.website · 34 pts · 35d (3 replies)

You hush your mouth, Event Horizon is awesome!!

boaratio@lemmy.world · 17 pts · 35d (2 replies)

I stand corrected. I had no idea people loved it as much as I do.

gusgalarnyk@lemmy.world · 10 pts · 35d

It's a pretty popular cult classic. Very few are like it and none tell as good a story. I wish the Clover Paradox had done something more similar to Event Horizon, or... I guess anything cohesive and good.

But ya, Event Horizon rocks.

StupidBrotherInLaw@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 34d

Fantastic movie. There's a gent on Plex, RipLinesMan, who writes reviews comparing various movies to Event Horizon. Also highly recommended.

vaultdweller013@sh.itjust.works · 18 pts · 35d (2 replies)

Event Horizon is a great 40k movie, shut thije mouth Heretic.

LiarAmongAll@lemmy.zip · 4 pts · 35d (1 reply)

Event Horizon: Humanity discovers the warp. Ya know, I buy it. Fuckin love that movie so much and tying it to 40k just makes it better. Head canon achieved

vaultdweller013@sh.itjust.works · 1 pts · 34d

I've seen folks passing around this bit of head canon for years like even before I started getting into 40k circa 2016 long. Pretty sure the first time I heard it was someone on a podcast I used to listen to joked about Event Horizon being set in the 40k universe, I want to say it was Alchestbreachs old podcast RLF but I legit can't remember since I was one of those guys that was constantly sleep deprived up until I graduated highschool.

BackgrndNoize@lemmy.world · 13 pts · 35d

Who told you that, it's a classic

HertzDentalBar@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 10 pts · 35d

Fuck you buddy. How dare you besmirch event horizon.

J/k

Not really how dare you!

Blackmist@feddit.uk · 1 pts · 35d

My favourite part of EH is Sam having to suck his belly in to fit in with all the big gruff marines. He looks like he's about to poo himself.

imeansurewhynot@sh.itjust.works · 30 pts · 35d (2 replies)

damn damn. into the mouth of madness.

isthereanydeal@discuss.tchncs.de · 15 pts · 35d

Yeah... And Event Horizon .. Sam was a HELL of a terror actor. I hope this one goes to HEAVEN

CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 35d

Oh, right, that one, too! For whatever reason, I always remember his adult Damien and Event Horizon and Possession, but he was in so many movies...

ramble81@lemmy.zip · 27 pts · 35d (2 replies)

Fun fact. Sam Neil was 46 in Jurassic Park and Laura Dern was only 26.

Blackmist@feddit.uk · 4 pts · 35d

Poor Laura has always looked a lot older than she is. Not unattractive, but even in things where she's like 18, she looks like a much older actress they've just slapped pigtails on.

GutterRat42@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 34d

In the book there is no romantic entanglement, Ellie is Alan's grad student

D_C@sh.itjust.works · 22 pts · 35d (1 reply)

My fave Jurassic Park is the third film. Mainly because it revolved around Sam and that certain gravitas that he brought to every role he took on.
Sad day.

fartographer@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 35d

Nobody: ...

Raptor: Alan!

chrisbit@leminal.space · 21 pts · 35d (1 reply)

So sad. Loved him in The Hunt for Red October. Going to watch Possession now as I've never seen it, but it sounds good.

chrisbit@leminal.space · 18 pts · 35d

Okay, that was intense.

hoodles@lemmy.world · 20 pts · 35d (1 reply)

Can we talk about how amazing the 2-part miniseries Merlin was? Sam Neil, Helena Bonham Carter, Martin Short? It's fantastic

PrimeErective@startrek.website · 4 pts · 35d

It's incredible

BurnedDonutHole@ani.social · 20 pts · 35d

RIP. I liked his movies.

DaniNatrix@leminal.space · 17 pts · 35d (1 reply)

I was 11 years old when Jurassic Park hit theaters and my brother and I had our little minds blown, we were obsessed. I like a lot of Sam Neill's films, especially the wild Lovecraft ones he did hahaha but he'll always kind of be Dr. Grant for me, hit me in the feels a bit this one.

Fredselfish@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 35d

I was 13 and liked his character in Hunt For Red October. He also played Merlin in a tv mini series that was pretty good. Damn this sucks.

Abyssian@lemmy.world · 14 pts · 35d (2 replies)

Jurassic Park? I best know him for taking a bath with Agent Smith.

No, really. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt12466740

CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 35d (1 reply)

I always remember him as playing adult Damien. Also I remember him in Event Horizon. And in Possession.

Yeah, Jurassic Park and Hunt for Red October, too.

Abyssian@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 35d

Event Horizon was one of few genuinely scary movies I remember seeing as a kid. If you haven't seen In the Mouth of Madness, it's a great one too.

WhiskyTangoFoxtrot@lemmy.world · 13 pts · 35d (1 reply)

Did he see Montana?

chiliedogg@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 35d

He was a true buckaroo in the emd.

tigermountain@lemmy.world · 11 pts · 35d

I hate to hear this. He was great in so many things.

Blackmist@feddit.uk · 10 pts · 35d

I'm particularly fond of Hunt for the Wilderpeople. His chemistry with Julian is off the charts.

But it's honestly hard to think of something he wasn't good in. Everyone's in a stinker from time to time, but he was never the worst thing about any of them.

flop_leash_973@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 35d

bassgirl09@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 35d

What a loss. Sam Neill was a great actor in every one of the movies I have seen him in. He will always be Dr. Grant or Merlin to me though.

LillyPip@lemmy.ca · 6 pts · 35d

Trajic ☹️

NotASharkInAManSuit@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 34d (1 reply)

He’s not dead, he’s simply returned to chaos and ascended to Daemon Lord. I wish him the best.

Etterra@discuss.online · 2 pts · 34d

Alternatively he's a vampire and we haven't seen the last of him.

TwinTitans@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 35d

Rest in peace Sam. Thank you for the wonderful worlds you brought to life.

Lushed_Lungfish@lemmy.ca · 1 pts · 35d

I hope he got to see Montana.

Rest easy.

boaratio@lemmy.world · -2 pts · 35d

Interesting take.
