Future medical researchers will write entire textbook chapters on this guy, and the impact of strokes on the foundational aspects of a person's socio/political identity.
Or...it will eventually be revealed at some point, that he simply sold out to AIPAC, and this had nothing to do with his brain at all.
We send "aid" to poor struggling Israel (who has free healthcare and much better social programs and quality of life than the US), then they use a lot of that to bribe our government through aipac to be their slaves. So yes, we pay for everything for them-- healthcare, school, the bombs and bullets, and best in the world military hardware, all free to them. In exchange they give us nothing at all but difficulties, temper tantrums, barbarity and political albatrosses in that region. All we get from them is bribes for our politicians.
I feel bad for his constituents. Pennsylvania disserves better representation and not the medication or stoke induced thing they have going on now. I'm curious if they feel represented by this damaged brain.
Exactly. The choice was between Fetterman and Dr. fucking Oz. At th3 time, Fetterman was obviously the lesser of two evils, although it's obvious now that it was a losing situation all around.
Just like the name suggests, in a "representative" democracy, elected politicians are expected to "represent" their constituents. (A Senator is a type of representative for that definition.)
That means that it is in your best interests as a constituent to elect a person who has the same political beliefs as you do, because you can't predict all of the things that are going to happen, so you want somebody who is like you, so that it's likely that they'll do whatever you would have wanted them to do in any given situation.
But when that doesn't happen, as is obviously the case with Fetterman, it is then the representative's job to figure out what their constituents in aggregate want and to vote that way, regardless. Otherwise, they're not representing their constituents.
Yes, there are obviously exceptions due to things like trading favors, but essentially, a representative should be able to say, "Look, I didn't do what I think you wanted me to do, but here's why, if you were in the same situation, you'd have made the same choice as me."
My point is that you can't poll that low and even pretend that you're doing your job as a representative. If you poll that low, you should just resign on the spot.
It makes it very difficult to believe the Democratic party isn't just controlled opposition when they tolerate the Manchins and Fettermans of the world. Bending over backwards to appease someone who clearly hates you so you can have an on paper advantage with absolutely no real world application is... actually, having listened to Democratic Strategists speak, that checks out. My bad.
@corbindallas@Iusedtobeanalien Yes. It will. It's was just thinking about the brave soldiers reporting to hitler saying, "Hang Mike Pence." Then wondered what was next. It will continue.
His handlers predict that the senate will gain too many Democrats in November for his vote to be an impasse, so they'll try to use him to strengthen Republican numbers instead.
The only way to befriend him is unlimited money and cruelty. This is why he's fully in the pocket of Israel. Since those are his interests, maybe giving him unlimited civil liability and more bullying may move the needle. Being pro-genocide shouldn't be the easy position to take anywhere. More ridicule of him on the streets should help.
Ok? So give him money and cruelty let him go kick fat old republicans idc. Dems need to win as many seats as possible to enact any reasonable amount of change.
We should publicly make the case of all the times he has voted with the dems and how much he has helped against the republicans. A little sendoff gift as he transitions to the republican party.

His approval has plummeted so badly that it's a historic precedent, he's less popular than any Democrat senator that has lost a primary in this century.
But Pennsylvanians are stuck with him until 2028.
halcyoncmdr@piefed.social · 14 pts · 34d
Just a another example of why every State needs a way to recall their representatives.
Even if that is just removing them. At those rates it seems Pennsylvanians would rather have no representative than Fetterman.

In terms of party and caucus headcount, yes, he was elected on the DNC ticket in PA and betrayed his conatituents.
In terms of actual policy, no, he pretty muck spits on the platform at every turn.

They have a space opening up for a near brain-dead representative controlled by the people in his staff.
I think there is a few weeks until it is open but Aug 4th comes around and he can go make his move to the great state of Kentucky.
Yes, I know he doesn't need to move there but it would be best for his constituents.
