Can I search for a Coldplay-enjoying HR lady yet? Asking for a CEO friend.

Every app is a dating app if you're ______ enough.

"high from huffing your own farts"?

The actual headline is waaaay more the onion:
The hottest new dating site: LinkedIn
Maeve@kbin.earth · 12 pts · 38d
Yeaaaaah. No. Geohot? I haven't thought about him in forever. So I did a quick bit of searching.
Is that in line with industry pricing now? I'm more out of touch than I imagined.
Interesting blog.
I mean, I kind of get a vague picture and in* a vague way, I vaguely get it. Maybe.
And a couple of start ups.

I don't know what linked in is anymore but it's certainly not what it was even 5 years ago.
Maeve@kbin.earth · 5 pts · 38d
I have never been enticed to it, even when it supposedly would have greatly benefited me. I hope I'm able to continue to avoid it.

Strava would actually be a good way to meet someone. Meeting through a common interest is probably the best way to meet a partner, so I can see the reasoning behind being recommended someone who also goes mountain biking, or whatever you happen to be into.
TubularTittyFrog@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 36d
It's not. I know female mountain bikers who can't use strava, because they got so sick of creepy weirdo dudes stalking them on strava and begging them for dates. That or they just set their account to private.
It's not a good way to meet people, by stalking them in online apps. But desperate idiots can't imagine there is any other way.

I have never used linkedin, and been asked for it on dating apps, and I get blocked when i say I don't use it.
People are weird and miserable. You can't gamify or maximize relationships, but they don't want to hear that.

Article is from 2 years ago, but still an interesting read. Here's an archived version.
betterdeadthanreddit@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 38d
Shady archive site.
ThePowerOfGeek@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 37d
What's a good alternative?
betterdeadthanreddit@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 37d
Wikipedia offers some suggestions on this information page.
idiomaddict@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 37d
The wayback machine doesn’t give me the option to archive sites anymore, only to access previously archived sites. Is that just me somehow missing the archive button?
betterdeadthanreddit@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 37d
https://web.archive.org/save Does this page work for you? If you're on mobile, could try going into your browser menu and changing to the desktop view for https://web.archive.org/ to see if the "Save Page Now" section shows up.
idiomaddict@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 37d
It does, thanks!

Why do you say that?

Weird stuff, man... Appreciate you bringing attention:
"decision asked editors to help remove and replace links to the following domain names used by the archive site: archive.today, archive.is, archive.ph, archive.fo, archive.li, archive.md, and archive.vn"
Bummer that these are needed services, Alta already constantly under attack by common enemies, and then junk like this happens.
