I guess 38 women murdered by partners/ex-partners so far this year is not real crime.
I guess when women do get out of a DV home situation as she so wisely suggests in order to get out of danger it solves the problem, right? Does this woman read? The most dangerous time for women is when they are trying to get out of the dv home. Of those that get out, some are killed (and their children) if they are found wherever they are hiding. And we could continue but this fascist, shallow idiot is not worth the time.
“Do you know that domestic violence takes up about 75% of police officers’ time now?” the senator said.
“And that’s all they’re dealing with. And the police have had a gutful of it.
“They’re sick and tired of it because of the reports that they have to make, and that’s why we’re not dealing with real crime out there. The whole thing needs to be wound back.”
In a speech she also explained how she smashed a plate on the wall, she had thrown at her husband, as a way to example "that's just how it is" so we shouldn't take domestic violence seriously.
And wasn't her son prosecuted for domestic violence. She started being really loud about her views then.
She also said it shouldn't be taken seriously because it's a two way street. Holy fuck.
(I'll try and find sources, but I've got a migraine coming on, so I don't know how quick ill be about it)
One Nation, Reform UK, AfD, insert your choice of resurgent far right party, they're all copying from the MAGA playbook. Almost as if there are monied interests that want to export fascism worldwide...
There was an opinion article I glanced at which talks about this, Hanson is in touch with some, such as "Men's Rights Activists" (a manosphere phenomenon, not to be confused with gender liberationists who fight for the rights of men)
I thought this was a telling comment: “The common wisdom is that as One Nation heads for the mainstream – its founder will need to temper her more extreme ideas to keep her coalition of disengaged and aggrieved voters together.”. How likely is it that Pauline can temper her views and also how likely is it that “conventional wisdom” is wrong? Seems overseas people just don’t care if these right wing populist parties are disjoint and have abhorrent ideas.

I hope he has put his Safety Phone in Aeroplane mode, otherwise she may discover it at 2:00PM today and throw another plate at him.

It's the new way to win elections, worked for Trump and her political party is leading the Polls.
they also think Climate Change is made up, so the stupidity runs deep.

Yeah this makes sense seeing as they spend their off hours committing domestic violence too

Women like this are half what's wrong with the world
DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social · 3 pts · 30d
And the other half are the men like this?

Maybe we could have specialized domestic violence police. IDK. If it's 75% I think that would warrant an entire specialty.

I'm not gonna say that lady needs to be slapped. But I think my ma and pa would say that.
eureka@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 30d
It seems Pauline doesn't care much about domestic violence, but you're here proposing international violence!
melsaskca@lemmy.ca · 1 pts · 30d
Well, no, I'm not proposing that at all. My ma and pa theoretically might be, though.

the sooner this waste of oxygen goes away, the better we will all be.

here's the answer
we can do both, we can stop intimate partner/family violence and investigate and prosecute criminals too, including white collar criminals
Fleur_@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 30d
Perhaps even political fraudsters

Bro just straight up sailed right past the point that domestic abusers are criminals

I'd be interested in long-form articles about One Nation, as the party's agenda has similarities with The (Rudimentary) Finns Party here.

Definitely in touch with the battlers and the toxic manosphere from the sounds of it.

Pauline Hanson’s domestic violence comments were no stumble

This post in the /c/australia community is about an Australian politician.

They said labor hence I was confused.
Salvo@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 28d
The Australian Labor Party (without a U) is different to the UKs Labour Party (spelt correctly).

Ah that's fair enough, Australian English is a strange blend sometimes.
