If you get this joke, it's time to schedule that colonoscopy.

unitedwithme@lemmy.today · 16 pts · 22d

snooggums@piefed.world · 3 pts · 22d

Got the reference and already had my second one last year!

Rothe@piefed.social · 3 pts · 21d

If you are American perhaps. Most other people have no idea what this is.

mechoman444@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 21d

It's already scheduled. 😥

Man, were psychedelics in the water supply back then?

db2@lemmy.world · 10 pts · 22d (2 replies)

It's from the 1970s so whippits or quaaludes probably.

The_Picard_Maneuver@piefed.world · 9 pts · 22d (1 reply)

Recently, there was a video going around with a similar style animation made for the American Bicentennial in 1976. It was either made by some of the same people, or both teams were on the same drugs.

At 0:36 they distinctly say "6-7"

.... Teaching middle schoolers has affected me more than I'd like to admit.

I went to high school in a museum. there was an exhibit that showcased generational stuff - Silent Generation, Baby Boomers, Gen X, Millennial... And that clip played on the Gen X TV with other sesame street/school house rock stuff on repeat. That song is burned into my brain.

Also "Dooo noooot... bother... thiiiis giiiaaant perrrrson."

Not only in my memory, he also lives right here on my desk. Nu-ne-nu-ne-nu...

Photo of my hand holding up an action figure of the Sesame Street typewriter guy in front of my screen showing this very post about him.

The_Picard_Maneuver@piefed.world · 15 pts · 22d (1 reply)

Whoa, that's incredible! Was this sold at some point or did you 3d-print it?

rob_t_firefly@lemmy.world · 14 pts · 22d

It's a real product. This one was a gift from my spouse, who knows me and my foundational embedded pop-culture bullshit well.

lepthesr@sh.itjust.works · 21 pts · 22d (1 reply)

But from where...?

ToiletFlushShowerScream@piefed.world · 19 pts · 22d

Wow. That was buried deep - and absolutely the last thing I expected to see today. Well done.

gedaliyah@lemmy.world · 15 pts · 22d

Wait...

YES

lime@feddit.nu · 10 pts · 22d (1 reply)

that's probably not true for most people. there are over 30 local versions of sesame street co-produced by the henson company and whatever tv-station in a particular country requested it, with different focus, cast, and stories, but with the same general aesthetic and target audience.

the swedish one took place in a theater and only got two seasons.

Dutch/British at the time, I've never seen this in my life.

Oh no, I'm TOO old to recognize a meme for old people.

Sorry, I have no idea what this is. Some kind of sentient wheeled typewriter presumably but it doesn't ring any bells
